Mumbai Indians is the joint-most successful team in the Indian Premier League (IPL).  Representing the city of Mumbai, the team, owned by Mukesh Ambani, was established in 2008. Known for their iconic blue and gold jersey, Mumbai Indians have a passionate fan base and a star-studded lineup. Led by some of the biggest names in cricket, such as Rohit Sharma, they consistently deliver thrilling performances on the field. 

The Mumbai Indians clinched their first IPL title against the Chennai Super Kings in 2013. Their second IPL victory came in 2015, defeating the MS Dhoni-led side once again. The team secured their third IPL title in 2017 after a nail-biting final against the Rising Pune Supergiant. In 2019, they made history with a record-breaking fourth IPL title, narrowly beating CSK. They continued their dominance, claiming their fifth IPL title in 2020 by defeating the Delhi Capitals.

In 2017, Mumbai Indians achieved a historic milestone by surpassing the $100 million mark in brand value, making them the first IPL franchise to do so. Rohit Sharma holds the record for the highest run tally in the team, while Lasith Malinga leads as the highest wicket-taker. Mark Boucher assumed the role of head coach before the 2023 season, with Kieron Pollard serving as the batting coach and Lasith Malinga as the bowling coach.

With championship victories in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020, Mumbai Indians have firmly established themselves as one of the most successful teams in IPL history. Additionally, they secured a playoff spot in 10 seasons - 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2023. 

2010: Runners-up 

In 2010, led by Sachin Tendulkar, Mumbai Indians stormed into their maiden IPL final. They made remarkable comeback in the semi-final against RCB, powered by Ambati Rayudu, Saurabh Tiwary, and Kieron Pollard. However, despite Tendulkar's heroics with the bat, they fell short in the final against CSK.

2011: Playoff Exit 

Under Sachin Tendulkar's leadership, Mumbai Indians displayed promise in the league stage but faced playoff elimination. Aiden Blizzard's explosive innings in the eliminator against Kolkata Knight Riders provided a glimmer of hope, but they faltered against the Royal Challengers in Qualifier 2, ending their campaign.

2012: Playoff Exit 

Despite a strong performance in the league stage under Harbhajan Singh's captaincy, Mumbai Indians suffered playoff heartbreak yet again. Facing CSK in the eliminator, they fell short despite a valiant effort.

2013: Champions 

2013 marked a turning point as Mumbai Indians overcame their playoff woes to clinch their maiden IPL title. Dwayne Smith's heroics in the qualifiers set the tone, while Kieron Pollard's all-round brilliance in the final helped them vanquish CSK and lift the trophy.

2014: Playoff Exit

Mumbai Indians entered the playoffs with thrilling victory over the Rajasthan Royals, but their journey was cut short by CSK in the eliminator. Despite Aditya Tare's memorable six to secure qualification, they couldn't maintain momentum in the playoffs.

2015: Champions

In a remarkable turnaround, Mumbai Indians clinched their second IPL title by defeating CSK twice in the playoffs. Lendl Simmons and Kieron Pollard's heroics with the bat, coupled with Lasith Malinga and Mitchell McClenaghan's stellar bowling, ensured victory.

2017: Champions 

In a tale of sheer drama, Mumbai Indians clinched their third IPL title in a nail-biting final against Rising Pune Supergiant. Krunal Pandya's heroics and a nerve-wracking final over sealed a one-run victory, etching their name in IPL history.

2019: Champions 

In another epic clash against CSK, Mumbai Indians emerged victorious, thanks to Lasith Malinga's last-ball heroics. Mumbai required two runs off the final delivery with Shardul Thakur at the crease. Malinga delivered a sensational yorker that struck Thakur's shoe, sealing CSK's fate as they fell short by a solitary run in the final. 

2020: Champions 

Mumbai Indians continued their dominance in 2020, securing their fifth IPL title. Led by Rohit Sharma, they showcased a balanced performance, with Ishan Kishan's brilliance in the qualifiers and a collective effort in the final leading them to glory.

2023: Playoff Exit 

In 2023, Mumbai Indians won five of their last seven matches, narrowly surpassing Rajasthan Royals and RCB in the playoffs race. They beat Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator but faced defeat against Gujarat Titans in the subsequent playoff encounter, the Qualifier 2.
