Pakistan Super League 2024: Start Date, Schedule, Team Rosters, and Fixtures

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is back with its ninth season and will be played from 17th February 2024 to 18th March 2024. Six teams will participate in a total of 34 matches to be played across 4 venues in Pakistan. The final will be played at the National Stadium, Karachi on 18th March 2024.

When will the PSL start in 2024?

Pakistan Super League season 9 will be played from February 17 2024 to March 18 2024. Defending champions Lahore Qalandars will face Islamabad United in the first match to be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Where is the 2024 PSL being held?

Pakistan Super League 2024 will be held entirely in Pakistan. It will be the 4th season to be entirely played in Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have announced Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore; Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan; National Stadium, Karachi; and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium as the venues. The first match will be played between defending champion Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore which will host 8 more matches in addition to the first one. The National Stadium in Karachi will host the most number of matches with 11 games allotted to the ground including the playoffs and the grand finale. Rawalpindi will play host to 9 games with Multan Cricket Stadium hosting just 5 games.

What is the PSL 2024 tournament format?

All six teams will play each other twice and the top four teams in the points table will then proceed to the playoffs. The top 2 teams will play the qualifier. The winner of that game will proceed straight to the final. The number 3 and 4 placed teams will face off in the first eliminator. The losing side will be knocked out and the winner of that encounter will play the loser of the qualifier to claim a spot in the finals.

What is the PSL 2024 prize money?

The winner side will get PKR 120 million as a reward with the runner-up side winning PKR 48 million. Every player of the match will get a cheque worth PKR 5,00,000. Other prizes on offer are Batter of the tournament, bowler of the tournament, player of the tournament, allrounder of the tournament, fielder of the tournament and emerging player of the tournament (PKR 3.5 million each).

Which teams are the favourites to win the 2024 PSL?

The defending champions Lahore Qalandars are one of the favourites to win the coveted trophy in PSL 9. The team looks settled with captain Shaheen Shah Afridi winning two back-to-back titles with the side in 2022 and 2023. The other team which will be having a closer look at the title will be Peshawar Zalmi which has former Pakistan captain and the highest all-time run scorer in PSL, Babar Azam as their skipper. The Quetta Gladiators bring a lot of experience to the table. They have replaced Sarfraz Ahmed as skipper with South African Rilee Rossouw and have the T20 giants like Mohammad Amir, Jason Roy, Akeal Hosein, Wanindu Hasaranga, Sherfane Rutherford, etc. in the side.

Which teams have won the PSL before?

Each team participating in the tournament has won the title at least once. Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars are the only teams to win the tournament twice with Qalandars achieving the feat in the last two seasons. They are also the only team to successfully defend their crown. Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators have won the trophy once with Zalmi finishing as runners-up on 3 occasions.
