Exclusive: Ozoemena Hopes to Save Nigeria From The Galaxies in CHAN Qualifiers
Enyimba's goalkeeper, Ani Henry Ozoemena, showcased impressive saves during the CAF Confederation Cup game. Despite conceding two goals, he credits his growth to former captain, Olorunleke Ojo. His call-up for the CHAN qualifiers signifies a bright future ahead.

Enyimba's goalkeeper, Ani Henry Ozoemena, made impressive saves during his club's CAF Confederation Cup game against Al Masry of Egypt last Wednesday.
His heroics, which included eight saves, could have earned him a sixth consecutive clean sheet. However, his club conceded two goals, beginning their continental campaign on a disappointing note.
In a phone conversation with SportsBoom.com, Ozoemena shared his thoughts on the new football season. He described the experience of playing on the continent as surreal, allowing players to understand various football terrains.
"Well, it was a good experience, playing for the first time on the continent. Though different, it's still the same football" the goalkeeper addressed.
Olorunleke Ojo’s effect
Getting to succeed the former captain of the club, Olorunleke Ojo, who moved to Sudanese side Al-Merrikh last summer, has been one of the spotlights of the 24-year-old career this season.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Ozoemena credits his predecessor, Olorunleke Ojo, for his growth and development. He describes Ojo as his "Odogwu" (Chairman) and acknowledges the constant guidance and encouragement he receives from him. "No pressure at all. I've learnt a lot from him, and we still talk. He keeps encouraging me, so there's no pressure."
Ozoemena humbly rejected the accolades of being called the first-choice goalkeeper, stating that the goalkeeping department is like a brotherhood where everyone helps each other. "My colleagues and I are all good. I don't see anyone as the first choice in Enyimba. I believe anyone can play, and whoever is ready for any game can play."
CHAN qualifiers call-up
Ozoemena's stellar performances with Enyimba have earned him a call-up for the CHAN qualifiers. He believes this opportunity is a stepping stone to greater things in his career.
"I'm happy and grateful to God. Being called up for national duty is something to be happy and grateful for. I will do my part to ensure we qualify."
With several clean sheets, including one against Shooting Stars in Ibadan last October, Ozoemena's efforts have helped Enyimba maintain a top-five position in the league.
He hopes to replicate this success with the national team and help Nigeria progress to the CHAN group stages next February.
