Last-Minute Entry: A Fighter's Resolve

In an exclusive interview with SportsBoom.com, the electrifying Orysakhail "Rico" Bakhtyaar stole the spotlight at OKTAGON 56, held at the World Resorts Arena in Birmingham. Bakhtyaar's last-minute entry into the ring, replacing Beau Gavin with just over 24 hours' notice, added an extra layer of intrigue to the event.

Faith Over Conventional Training

Recounting the unexpected turn of events, Bakhtyaar shared, "I was tucking into a burger and a smoothie when I got the phone call. My manager calls me and told me I’ve got a fight. My coaches said I was ready, it was that simple. You can call me a madman."

His preparation for the bout was unconventional, to say the least. Observing Ramadan meant Bakhtyaar had just emerged from a month of fasting, relying solely on his faith and inner strength. "I’ve just come out of Ramadan, I have been fasting all month, that’s the only homework I needed," he explained. "I did not spar for a month, I did not run for a month, the only training I’ve been doing is weight training during my fast."

Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Yet, despite the minimal preparation, Bakhtyaar seized the opportunity with unwavering resolve. "Religion is number one for me, the fight came at the perfect time," he affirmed. "I’ve now got a contract, so they’ll be many more burgers and smoothies for me."

The Triumph of Determination: Victory in the Ring

In the ring, Bakhtyaar's determination shone through. Facing off against the seasoned Mbaye Gaye, he showcased his skill and resilience, ultimately securing a third-round TKO victory. It was a testament to his unyielding spirit and sheer determination in the face of adversity.

Hailing from the renowned Renegade Gym in Birmingham, "Rico” follows in the footsteps of his fellow fighters, including UFC champion Leon Edwards. Training alongside Edwards and other seasoned professionals at Renegade, Bakhtyaar harnesses the collective expertise and relentless work ethic of the team. Their shared dedication to excellence and determination to push boundaries undoubtedly played a pivotal role in Bakhtyaar's remarkable journey to OKTAGON 56 and his triumphant performance in the ring.

As the curtains closed on OKTAGON 56, Bakhtyaar's triumph, stands as a stirring reminder of the power of faith and resilience in the world of mixed martial arts. With this victory under his belt, Bakhtyaar's journey promises more thrilling battles and inspiring moments to come.
