    Wu Yize Takes Early Lead

    In a thrilling first-round clash at the Spreadex World Grand Prix, Ali Carter narrowly escaped a potential upset as he secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over the talented 20-year-old, Wu Yize. The match unfolded with intense drama, less than 36 hours after Carter's loss to Ronnie O’Sullivan in the MrQ Masters final.

     

    The encounter kicked off with Wu Yize taking the early lead in the first frame, showcasing his skills with a break of 52. However, Carter responded swiftly, levelling the playing field with a break of 57 in an instant counterattack. 

     

    Wu Yize, seizing on a series of errors from Carter, instantly managed to regain the lead. However, undeterred, Ali Carter showcased his experience and resilience with a composed break of 68, allowing him to draw the game back level. 

    Carter’s Composed Comeback

    The 20-year-old, determined to stay in control, reclaimed the lead for the third time with a break of 71, putting him on the brink of victory. But, In a tense moment, Carter rallied once again, tying the game at 3-3, setting the stage for a final frame decider. The stakes were high as the winner would advance to face Mark Selby in the next round.

    The Decider

    The final frame proved to be a nerve-wracking affair, with both players displaying cautious strategies. Wu Yize had an opportunity to seize control, but a crucial miss on the brown opened the door for Carter. In a short but intense safety battle, Carter capitalised on Wu's mistake, smashing home the brown, and eventually, clinching the game with a 4-3 victory.

     

    Ali Carter's triumph over Wu Yize sets the stage for an exciting journey in the Spreadex World Grand Prix. As he advances to face Mark Selby in the next round, fans can expect more intense and captivating snooker action from the Masters finalist.
