    Trump Dominates Early On

In a one-sided quarterfinal clash at the Morningside Arena in Leicester, Judd Trump showcased his impeccable snooker skills as he secured a commanding 5-1 victory over Mark Selby in the 2024 Spreadex World Grand Prix. The hometown hero, Mark Selby, faced a tough challenge in front of his fans, but Trump's exceptional performance left little room for a comeback.

The opening frame set the tone for the match, with Judd Trump taking an early lead with a break of 59. Trump's precision on the table demonstrated his form and determination to progress further in the competition. As the game progressed, Trump continued to assert his dominance in a strategic battle that saw him clinch the second frame after a prolonged safety exchange, thanks to a crucial mistake by Selby. The missed yellow by Selby allowed Trump to capitalise and extend his lead to 2-0.

    Selby Continues to Stumble

Mark Selby's woes continued in the third frame when a routine red eluded him, gifting yet another frame to Trump. With a 3-0 lead, Judd Trump was on the verge of a whitewash, and his relentless pursuit of victory was highlighted by a scintillating century break of 119 in the fourth frame. Trump's brilliance on the table brought him within one frame of securing the match and advancing to the semi-finals.

    Century Break Avoids Whitewash

However, Selby showed resilience and managed to avoid a whitewash by mounting a spectacular comeback in the fifth frame. A century break of exactly 100 reignited hopes for the hometown crowd, but it was only a brief respite in the face of Trump's dominant performance.

    A Spot in the Semis

The final blow came in the sixth frame as Judd Trump, with a break of 68, sealed the victory and secured his place in the semi-finals of the World Grand Prix. Trump's triumph in this quarterfinal clash marks his pursuit of a fourth World Grand Prix championship, and he will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming stages of the competition.
