Hitting six fours off six balls in an over is a rare feat in cricket, with only a handful of players completing 24 runs in boundaries in an over.

There are only two players who have hit six fours in an over in the Indian Premier League.

Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw are the only two players to record six fours off six balls during an IPL match.

The IPL is in its 17th edition since the inaugural tournament in 2008, yet this unique feat has only happened twice in history.

He smashed Shreenath Arivand for six consecutive fours during Match 18 of the 2012 Indian Premier League.

Rahane played a captain's knock, scoring 103 not out off 60 balls, leading Rajasthan Royals (RR) to a 59-run victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Bengaluru.

Prithvi Shaw | 82 (41 balls) KKK vs DC, 2021

Shaw was the second player to hit six fours in an over in the IPL. Shaw notched 82 from 41 balls, hitting all six boundaries off Shivam Mavi's opening over of the match.

Opening the batting against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the Dehli Capitals (DC) opening batsman did his best Rahane impersonation.

His quickfire innings set up the chase as he led his team to a comprehensive seven-wicket win in Match 25 of the 2021 IPL in Ahmedabad.

Six players have hit six fours off six balls in International Cricket

Only six players have hit six fours off six balls in international cricket.

Surprisingly, scoring six consecutive boundaries in an over has only been achieved once in a Limited Overs International but five times in Test Matches.

This feat has never happened in T20 Internationals, although players have hit five fours in an over many times.

Two West Indies and Sri Lanka players are on the list, while India and England have a player each.

Who hit six fours off an over in international cricket?

Sandeep Patil, Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Sanath Jayasuriya, and Harry Brook, all completed the set in Tests.

Tillakaratne Dilshan is the only player to do so in a 50-over international when he smacked Australia around during their 2015 ICC World Cup match.

    1. Sandeep Patil | India vs England, 1982

Patil was the first player to hit six boundaries in six balls when he dispatched England's Bob Willis around Old Trafford in 1982.

Although the fourth ball was a dot, Patil whacked the previous delivery, which was no ball, to the boundary.

Patil finished with 129 runs in India's rain-affected drawn Test in Manchester. The tourists lost the 3-match series 1-0.

    2. Chris Gayle | England vs West Indies, 2004

It took 22 years before another player equaled Patil's achievement when Gayle hit six fours in six balls during an over.

The self-styled "Universe Boss" was one of the great entertainers in all formats of cricket.

The explosive West Indian playmaker dispatched England fast bowler Matthew Hoggard around the Oval on a bowling-friendly wicket in 2004.

Gayle's heroics were in vain as England romped to a 10-wicket win in London to claim a 4-nil series whitewash over the West Indies.

    3. Ramnaresh Sarwan | West Indies vs India, 2006

Sarwan became the third international player to register six fours in six balls of a Test Match.

Sarwan walloped Munaf Patel around the Warner Park Sporting Complex in 2006.

The West Indies middle-order batsman took Patel to the cleaners in the first innings of the drawn third Test in Basseterre.

Sarwan scored 116 to help the Windies to a mammoth 588/8 in their first innings.

The St. Kitts' wicket was a road, however, and both teams combined for more than 1,400 runs as the Test petered out to a draw.

India, who had not won a Test series in the West Indies for 35 years, claimed a famous 1-nil series win when they won the fourth and final Test in Kingston, Jamaica.

    4. Sanath Jayasuriya | Sri Lanka vs England, 2007

Legendary Sri Lanka opening batsman Jayasuriya, like Gayle, had to be on this list.

Jayasuriya notched many records during his illustrious career, and it's only fitting the left-handed destroyer is in such a rarified company.

In 2007, Jayasuriya announced his immediate retirement from Test cricket after scoring 78 against England in Kandy.

During his innings, he smacked James Anderson for six fours in an over. Sri Lanks won the 1st Test but drew the 3-Test series 1-1.

    5. Tillakaratne Dilshan | Australia vs Sri Lanka, 2015

Dilshan is the only player to find the boundary six times in a row in One-Day International cricket.

The Sri Lanka opening batsman carved Australia around the Sydney Cricket Ground during the 2015 World Cup.

Mitchell Johnson was the unfortunate bowler Dilshan plastered around the SCG.

Unfortunately, despite Dilshan's entertaining 62, Sri Lanka fell short by 64 runs.

    6. Harry Brook | Pakistan vs England, 2022

The most recent and first English player to smash six fours in an over in a Test Match is Brook.

The Yorkshireman slammed the record against Pakistan's Saud Shakeel in the first Test in Rawalpindi in 2022.

He reached a sublime century off 80 deliveries as England piled on the runs.

Brook top-scored in the first innings with 153 and he scored 87 in the second innings.

England won the match by 74 runs before claiming a 3-0 series whitewash.
