Exclusive: Celtic Lining Up Move to Sign Former England, Arsenal And Liverpool Midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamblerlain

Celtic are lining up a bid for former England, Arsenal and Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

Rumours have been circulating that Old Firm rivals Rangers are keen on signing the free agent.

But our sources have learnt that last year’s Scottish Premiership winners are set to enter the race for the 32-year-old’s signature as he looks to engineer a move back to the UK after a spell with Turkish side Besiktas.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has spent the last two seasons in Turkey, living apart from his family and is now keen to return home.

The Portsmouth-born playmaker has played 245 times in the Premier League throughout a distinguished career.

After starting his career with Southampton the 35-cap international joined the Gunners and enjoyed seven seasons in the Premier League before a move to Liverpool.

He spent six seasons at Anfield before his first move abroad to play for Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has played 50 games for the club and scored five goals having done well in Turkey.

But missing his young family is understood to be one of the main reasons the midfielder is targeting a return to the UK.

And with the latest transfer window having slammed shut until January, Oxlade-Chamberlain is now eyeing up a potential move to Scotland with the Hoops having reached out to the player’s representatives.

Rangers are understood to be keen to try and tempt Oxlade-Chamberlain north of the border, but now the Hoops have put themselves in the mix to try and secure his signature.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has had a career to savour having won the Champions League with Liverpool, as well as the Premier League, Club World Cup, Super Cup, EFL Cup, the FA Cup on three occasions, as well as the Community Shield three times.

He also won the Turkish Cup in his first season at Besiktas and played for his country at Euro 2012.
