Bouna Sarr is considering retirement after years of injury hell, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The Senegalese international has been without a club since being released by Bayern Munich in the summer of 2024.
Our sources have been told his injury record in recent years has left him unable to find a new club.
And it is understood that the right-back is contemplating hanging up his boots after struggling to find employment and keep himself fit.
His time at Munich was littered with injuries. He struggled with patella tendon issues and had knee surgery in 2022 to try and solve it.
Sarr went 424 days between competitive fixtures for the club and needed another knee operation in 2023 after tearing his ACL.
Munich bosses decided to cut their losses on the player, who managed just 16 Bundesliga appearances during his four-season spell at the club, when his contract expired last year.
Sad End
Sarr's promise was brutally stunted by injury. He started his career at Metz and helped the club earn back-to-back promotions from the Championnat National to Ligue 1.
After an impressive first season in the French top flight, Sarr ended his six-year association with the club to move to Marseille in 2015.
Sarr continued to showcase his talents and made over 170 appearances for the club, where he was part of the side which finished runners-up in the 2018 Europa League final and earned a high-profile move to Munich in 2020 before a string of frustrating injuries.
AFCON Hero
Born in France, Sarr had a decision to make over his international allegiance.
But after failing to break into the French squad, he decided to play for Senegal and starred as the nation ended their long wait for a first African Cup of Nations in 2021.
Sarr missed the 2022 World Cup after undergoing knee surgery and has not featured for his country amid his litany of injuries.
