Exclusive: Burnley Plot £18m Move for Norwich Star Josh Sargent

Burnley are close to making an £18million bid for Norwich City striker Josh Sargent, with Leeds also interested. Norwich may allow Sargent to leave for the right price due to the impending arrival of Mathias Kvistgaarden. Burnley are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the new Premier League season with several big signings.

Burnley are close to tabling a £18million bid for highly-rated Norwich City strike Josh Sargent, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal. But Leeds United are also very keen on signing the sought-after striker.

The United States international still has three years left on his contract at Carrow Road, but the chance to play in the Premier League with the Clarets could prove to be an appealing move.

Norwich are expected to secure a deal to sign Denmark international hitman Mathias Kvistgaarden this week – and our sources have learnt the Canaries would be willing to let Sargent leave if the price is right.

Spanish forward Borja Sainz, the club’s top-scorer last season with 18 goals in the Championship, is believed to be on the verge of a high-profile £15million transfer to Portuguese side Porto

But Kvistgaarden’s imminent arrival in a deal believed to be worth £7m, has left the door open for Sargent to depart.

The Canaries have valued Sargent at £20million, but the Clarets are hoping to buy the striker for just below that asking price ahead of their first season back in the Premier League.

Soctt Parker’s triumphant side finished second in the second tier last season and are looking to make a big impression in the top-flight this term.

The club have already splashed the cash this summer with a string of new signings to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.

England and former Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker is arguably their highest-profile signing this summer, with the 35-year-old having arrived on a free.

    SUMMER SIGNINGS

But Parker has also signed left-back Bashir Humphreys on a four-year deal from Chelsea (£12m), as well as Sporting CP winger Marcus Edwards (£8.7m), Bournemouth winger Jaidon Anthony (£8.2m), Feyenoord left-back Quilindschy Hartman (£7.8m), Millwall striker Zian Flemming (£7.2m), goalkeeper Max Weiss (£4.3m) from Bundesliga outfit Karlsruher SC and France Under-21 winger Loum Tchaouna (£13.4m) from Italian side Lazio.

Former Ipswich Town right-back Axel Tuanzebe has joined the club on a free having left the Tractor Boys following their relegation back to the Championship.

Sargent signed for the Canaries on a four-year deal in August 2021 from German side Werder Bremen.

Capped 28 times by his country, the US star bagged 15 goals last season in the Championship and has regularly found the back of the net, scoring 15 and 13 goals in his two previous seasons at the club.

He played 26 games in the Premier League during the 2021-22 campaign, but only scored twice in the league that season as the Canaries were relegated.
