Cesc Fabregas wants to be reunited with keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga at Como, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The former Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea legend was assistant manager as Como earned promotion to Serie A for the eighth time in their history in the 2023/24 season.
Fabregas played with Kepa during his time at Stamford Bridge and our sources have been told he wants him as his new number one.
Kepa was signed by Chelsea for a whopping £72million in 2018 and Fabregas hopes the project at Como can lure him to the beautiful city.
The Spanish keeper was one of the standout performer's during Bournemouth’s impressive campaign last season and moved to Arsenal, for £5million, as back up to compatriot David Raya in the summer.
Fabregas has already brought former team-mates Alvaro Morata and Sergi Roberto to the club since he was unveiled as the permanent boss last year and is looking to repeat the strategy.
The Fabregas Project
The former midfielder ended his playing career with the club in 2023 and was immediately named coach of their U19 and B teams.
Fabregas was promoted to first-team coach after the sacking of Moreno Longo in November 2023 and needed special dispensation to fill in for a month due to not having a UEFA Pro License.
Osian Roberts took the helm as caretaker boss until the end of the season with Fabregas staying on as his assistant whilst he completed his badges.
Following the club's promotion to Serie A Fabregas was appointed on a four-year deal.
Como were down in the doldrums of Serie D as recently as 2019 before back-to-back league titles and eventual promotion back to the Italian top tier.
In Fabregas’ first season in charge the club secured their best Serie A finish, 10th, since 1987 and they have enjoyed a promising start to the new campaign, losing just one of their first four league outings and winning their first two rounds of the Coppa Italia.
