Exclusive: Eddie Howe Eyes Jarrod Bowen as Newcastle Look to Exploit West Ham’s Woes

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is keen to sign Jarrod Bowen from West Ham United, as the Hammers struggle in the league. Bowen, a key player for West Ham, has expressed interest in playing at a higher level amidst relegation fears. The Magpies have long admired Bowen and Howe is preparing a deal for the winger to join his squad. Bowen has been a standout performer for West Ham, scoring goals consistently in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe is ready to offer Jarrod Bowen an escape route out of West Ham United, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The Newcastle United boss is a huge admirer of the Hammers’ and England star.

It has been a calamitous campaign for the East London club so far this season with just one win and one draw from their opening nine league games.

And our sources have been told Howe is urging his Magpies’ backroom staff to prepare a package to lure Bowen to the north east.

It is understood Howe sees Bowen as the perfect addition on the right-hand side of the Magpies’ front three.

Bowen, who joined the club 2020, is the Hammers’ captain and it is believed he would rather wait until the end of the season instead of jumping ship in the middle of a relegation battle.

Newcastle have a long held interest in Bowen and frustratingly missed out on signing him when he moved for £22million from Hull City five years ago.

A move to St James’ Park has failed to materialise in recent summers due to West Ham’s evaluation of the player, but Bowen’s own desire to play at the highest level and the genuine prospect the club could be in the Championship next season have alerted Howe to the possibility of finally getting his man.

    Hammers' Star Man

Bowen scored 52 goals in 124 appearances for Hull to earn himself a dream move to the Premier League.

And Bowen has been the Hammers’ star man ever since. He has notched up over 200 top flight appearances for the club, scoring 59 times.

In the 2021/22 season he was named Players’ Player of the Year and scooped the Player of the Year Award in the 2023/24 campaign.

Bowen also played a part in the famous 2022/23 Conference League triumph, the club’s first European glory since 1999 and was named in the Team of the Tournament.
