Everton and Crystal Palace have both expressed an interest in trying to sign Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The Denmark international centre-back is out of contract at the Camp Nou next summer when his current four-year deal expires.
And our sources have learnt that the Toffees and Eagles could both make bids for the player in July when his Barcelona tenure is officially over.
Former Chelsea defender Christensen is no stranger to the Premier League, having played 93 times for the Blues in the English top-flight.
And after four seasons with Barca his current deal is up in June, with both Everton and Palace closely monitoring the 29-year-old’s next move.
Capped 79 times by his country and looking forward to trying to help secure a place at next year’s World Cup in America, Christensen has not been offered a new contract by Barca.
That has prompted both Everton and Palace to look at a potential deal to bring the defender back to the Premier League for the first time since June 2022 when he left Stamford Bridge.
Christensen spent two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich during his six-year Chelsea stay, before returning to play for the Blues from 2017 onwards.
BIG BUYOUT
And he has been at Barca ever since joining them on a free transfer, with a whopping 500,000 euros (£437,637) buyout clause as part of his signing-on contract.
Christensen was a mainstay of the Barcelona team in his first two seasons but played just five league games in Spain’s La Liga during the 2024-25 campaign.
His progress was initially hampered by an Achilles tendon injury and muscle issues, but he maintained his fitness despite struggling to cement a regular starting place this term.
"Before last season, there were hardly any questions about my fitness,” Christensen said.
“But since then, there have been many. Now I'm back in competition, without getting injured."
“In fact, apart from illnesses I've been fit all season. So it's annoying, but I have to accept it."
I'll keep my head held high and play, as I always have, except when I've been sick."
