Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is being targeted by three Premier League clubs having revealed he is set to leave the club when his contract expires next month.
Brighton, Fulham and Bournemouth have all expressed an interest in signing the experienced Frenchman for next season.
SportsBoom can reveal that after the Toffees opted against triggering a one-year contract extension option, with the 32-year-old lining up a summer move away after five seasons with the Premier League club.
It is understood reduced wages were discussed for Doucoure to stay and the play was quick to dispel that chatter.
Now, Doucoure sets to become a free agent in June with interest growing in trying to sign him for a snip.
The former Mali international played 35 games for the Toffees this season and played key role for manager David Moyes in the middle of the park.
But it is understood Moyes is keen to freshen his squad with new signings this summer, especially younger talent to take the club forward.
And having signed for the club in September 2020 from Watford, Doucoure expects his Everton journey is now at end after 165 appearances and 21 goals for the club.
EMOTIONAL GOODBYE
Doucoure enjoyed an emotional goodbye in Everton’s last home game against Southampton at Goodison Park last Sunday.
He impressed in a 2-0 win against the Saints and is tipped to play his last game for the club away to Newcastle United this Sunday.
Doucoure is believed to be sad he won’t get the chance to play a full season at the club’s new Everton Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock in Vauxhall.
But he is also understood to be excited about a new challenge – and another season in the Premier League.
The former Rennes ace has enjoyed nine straight seasons in the top-flight and could love to make it a decorated decade of service next season, believing he still has plenty to offer in the Premier League.
