Exclusive: Former Arsenal Defender Takehiro Tomiyasu Attracts Attention of Eintract Frankfurt And AC Milan
Former Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is being courted by German Bundesliga side Eintract Frankfurt and Italian giants AC Milan, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The Japan international has been a free agent ever since leaving the Gunners this summer.
And our sources have discovered that both Frankfurt and AC Milan have been initial enquiries about the possibility of signing the 26-year-old full-back.
Capped 42 times by his country, Tomiyasu joined the Gunners in August 2021 on a four-year deal.
He made his Premier League debut the following month and played 65 times in the top-flight before being released by mutual consent by the North London club.
Tomiyasu was linked with a move to Everton before the summer transfer window shut at the start of September.
But now a move abroad looks like the most likely option for the former Bolgoga man, whose last professional appearance was for Arsenal back on 5th October 2024.
KNEE SURGERY
The defender suffered a bad knee injury in the club’s pre-season tour during the 2024-25 campaign and it was not until that October that he returned following surgery.
However, having come on as a late substitute in a 3-1 home win over Southampton, he then required further knee surgery.
It was at that point the club let Tomiyasu leave in February, nearly six months before his contract was due to expire.
A proven performer at international and in the Premier League, the Fukuoka-born full-back is now looking to get his career back on track after approaching a year on the sidelines.
Frankfurt are currently second in the Bundesliga, level on points with leaders Bayern Munich and believed to be hungry to bolster their defensive options.
AC Milan are eighth in the Italian Serie A and also looking to strengthen at the back as they look to improve on last season’s frustrating eighth place finish.
