Former Tottenham Hotspur shot-stopper Alife Whiteman is being courted by Scottish outfit Aberdeen, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
And our sources have learnt that French club Nice have also made a tentative enquiry to sign the 26-year-old goalkeeper.
Whiteman was released by Spurs at the end of last season and has been looking for a new club ever since.
And our sources have discovered the Dons have made enquiries about trying to sign the former England Under-19 international on a free transfer.
Whiteman was starved of first-team opportunities at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with more high-profile goalies ahead of him in the pecking order.
But at 26 he still has years ahead of him in the game is understandably hungry to find him himself a new home for this season.
Whiteman won a UEFA Europa League winners’ medal last season with Spurs after they beat Manchester United at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao.
However, he has never started a game for the North London club and, after a couple of brief loan spells in his career, the keeper craves more regular football.
CAMEO DISPLAY
Whiteman’s only senior Spurs’ appearance was a second-half Europa League cameo against Bulgarian side Ludogorets in 2020.
“I feel extremely lucky (for my career), but there is always that conflict because the dream is to be out there,” said Whiteman, asked about his lack of first-team action throughout his career.
Whiteman was training with Portsmouth last month with a view to securing a permanent deal, but club haven’t progressed any further with a deal.
Pompey are still understood to be keen on the player, but the problem for Whiteman has been regular game-time.
He has played just eight minutes for Spurs across a decade-long stay and is now fighting for a chance at a new club.
Blackburn Rovers, Oxford United and Stoke City have also previously been linked with the player, but none of those clubs made a move before the transfer window shut.
