Fulham are resigned to losing Dutch defender Kenny Tete on a free transfer unless they can agree a new contract before the end of the month, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

Right-back Tete played 22 times for the Cottagers last season in the top-flight but his contract end on 30th June.

But the club are loathed to losing the experienced Netherlands international for nothing, with a number of rival Premier League clubs circling.

Everton were heavily linked with a move for the defender, but the Toffees have agreed a deal to sign Manchester City and England defender Kyle Walker for next season.

But Aston Villa, Burnley, Brentford and Leeds United have all made enquiries about signing Tete.

Tete struggled with a knee injury last season but has bags of Premier League experience having played four seasons in the top-flight.

The 29-year-old joined the Cottagers on a four-year deal from French club Lyon with the option of a further year.

That clause in the contract was activated last summer, but our sources have learnt the 14-cap international is ready for a change and frustrated the club didn’t offer him a decent deal to stay in West London.

AJAX ACADEMY ALUMNI

Tete is a product of the well-respected Ajax academy and played 31 times for the clu being snapped up by Lyon.

He represented the Netherlands at ever age level from Under-17s to U21 level, before graduating to the senior international side in 2015.

Tete tasted success in the Cottagers side that won the Championship crown in the 2021-22 season, winning promotion back to the Premier League.

He is also a UEFA Europa League runner-up with Ajax and played in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in the early stages of his career.

Approaching his 30th birthday, Tete still believes he has a lot to offer in the Premier League and has been chatting to a number of clubs about a move away from Craven Cottage.
