Champions League finalists Inter Milan have made contact with Liverpool about trying to secure a deal for unsettled Liverpool winger Harvey Elliott on a bumper deal, SportsBoom can exclusively.
But Aston Villa and Wolves are also understood to be keen to sign the gifted 22-year-old playmaker, valued at £45million, who is contracted to the club until June 2027.
Elliott is currently playing for England at the European Under-21 Championships in Slovakia, with Lee Carsley’s defending champions having progressed to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
But it is Elliott’s Anfield future rather than international scrutiny which is the hot topic on Anfield at the moment.
New record signing Florian Wirtz is set to arrive any day in Merseyside following his £100m plus £16million adds-on bumper deal.
And the German international midfielder’s arrival calls into question just how much game time Elliott will be given next season, especially having only played a reduced role in manager Arne Slot’s Premier League-winning side last season.
LIMITED OPPORTUNITIES?
Elliott started just TWO Premier League games all season and was used as an impact substitute in the 16 other league matches.
He started only ONE game in the Champions League last season and was used four times off the bench.
It is a lack of game-time which has left Elliott understandably concern about his first-team opportunities next season.
Elliott chipped in with five goals last season for the Reds, most notably scoring an 87th minute winner as Slot’s side beat eventual Champions League winners Paris St-Germain 1-0 away from home.
PSG triumphed 4-1 on penalties after winning the second leg 1-0, but Elliott was again a substitute for the fixture.
But Italian giants Inter are undergoing an overhaul of last year’s squad and believe Elliott is the perfect young player they need to sign for the future.
Elliott came through the Queen’s Park Rangers and Fulham academies and joined Liverpool in 2019.
He has played five of the last seasons for the Reds in the Premier League, with the exception of the 2020-21 where he enjoyed a successful loan spell under Tony Mowbray at Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
His stock has risen considerably since then and has made 92 appearances for Liverpool in the top-flight.
