A number of Premier League clubs have expressed an interest in signing Ipswich Town forward Sammie Szmodics, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The Republic of Ireland international enjoyed his first season in the Premier League last season having made a big money move from Blackburn Rovers.

But with the Tractor Boys having been relegated back to the Championship after a season to forget, Szmodics is keen to continue his Premier League journey.

Brentford, Wolves, Everton, Bournemouth and West Ham have all made provisional enquiries about the player who joined Ipswich on a four-year deal in August 2024.

The Tractor Boys value the player at between £10-15million and are willing to cash in if the price is right.

However, even though the 29-year-old’s contract doesn’t expire until June 2028, it is understood a release clause would allow him to leave if Ipswich’s transfer fee is met.

Szmodics was a revelation for Blackburn in the 2023-24 season having scored a staggering 33 goals in 48 games, which deservedly earnt him his high-profile Premier League move.

But last season the 10-cap international found it much tougher going, scoring just four goals in his debut season in the top flight in 20 appearances.

PREMIER LEAGUE HOPES

SportsBoom understands Szmodics would love to try and build on last season in the Premier League, rather than dropping back down to the Championship.

Wolves are desperate to strengthen their squad with the confirmed departures of star striker Matheus Cunha to Manchester United for £62.5million and the expected departure of star left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City this summer.

And both Everton, who are expected to make wholesale squad changes, and West Ham are desperate to bolster their attacking options after disappointing seasons which saw them finish 13th and 14th respectively in the Premier League.

“It’s every boy’s dream to play in the Premier League and I’ve always said to my friends, family and agents that I’ll get to the top one day,” revealed Szmodics when he signed for Ipswich last summer.
