Leeds United want to sell unwanted striker Mateo Joseph to loan club Mallorca, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

Former Spain Under-21 international Joseph struggled to command a starting role for the Whites last season, even though he played 39 games for the club as they secured a memorable promotion back to the Premier League.

Joseph started a string of games at the start of the season, but finished with 11 starts as he was gradually isolated and used largely as an impact substitute.

He was used as a substitute on new fewer than 29 occaions, but mustered just three goals all season in the limited time he was on the pitch for the Elland Road Outfit.

And that’s one of the major reasons the Yorkshire club are happy to let Joseph leave to pursue regular football elsewhere.

Leeds signed former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer later, as well highly-rated hitman Lukas Nmecha from Bundesliga outfit WfL Wolfsburg to bolster their goalscoring options ahead of their eagerly-awaited return to the top flight.

GOALSCORING ISSUES

Nmecha scored from the penalty spot in his opening game for his new club, securing a battling 1-0 home win over Everton.

But he has yet to find the target with Leeds having been humiliated 5-0 by Arsenal and bean beaten 1-0 away to Fulham.

A credible goalless draw at home to Newcastle United came inbetween those fixtures.

Stalwart striker Patrick Bamford was not offered a new deal to stay and left the club a few weeks ago, with German manager Farke also keen to offload Joseph on a permanent deal as soon as possible to help gather much-needed transfer funds for further reinforcements.

Joseph and Bamford are both understood to be disappointed with the way the club have handled their exits, especially for Bamford after long loyal service at Elland Road.
