Leicester City are looking at offering out-of-favour striker Mateo Joseph a way out of Leeds United, SportsBoom can exclusively.

And our sources have learnt Sheffield United have also expressed an interest in signing the striker as they look to fire their way to the Premier League.

Spain Under-21 international hitman Joseph endured a frustrating season at Elland Road last term.

The Santander-born striker started just ten league games all season in the Championship, predominantly used as an impact substitute for the bulk of the season.

Joseph, who joined the Whites on a three-year deal in January from Espanyol, has struggled to cement a regular starting berth with the club.

He scored one goal in 20 league games in his first season in the English second and last season managed 3 from 39 league appearances, although 29 of them games were as a substitute.

Ironically, Joseph, 21, started the first eight games of the season for Leeds and scored is one solitary goal.

SUBSTITUTE STRIKER

After that Leeds boss Daniel Farke used the Spaniard as a back-up striker with Dutchman Joe Piroe his preferred frontman.

Piroe bagged 19 goals to finish the league’s top-scorer, while midfielder Manor Solomon weight in with ten goals as Leeds were crowned Championship champions on the final day of the domestic season.

Joseph is understood to be keen to stay at Leeds if they can offer him more football, but both the Foxes – who have lost long-time frontman Jamie Vardy for next season – and the promotion-hungry Blades believe they can offer the player more game time.

Spanish outfit Real Betis are rumoured to have shown an interest in signing Joseph, who still has three years left on his current contract after extending his stay in January last year.

But SportsBoom understands Joseph, who scored a stunner for Spain Under-21s in their 3-2 Euro 2025 opener against Slovakia on Wednesday, is keen to stay in England having settled in Yorkshire.
