Manchester City hot prospect Max Alleyne is wanted by Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield United, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
Alleyne, whose dad is the former England and Gloucestershire all-rounder Mark, is highly-regarded by the eight-time Premier League champions.
But our sources have learnt the Citizens are prepared to let the highly-rated 20-year-old leave on loan to get some much-needed regular football under his belt.
Both Rovers and the Blades are hoping to tempt the youngster by regular Championship football next season.
City has a brilliant working relationship with Sheffield United, who have received James McAtee and Tommy Doyle on-loan in recent years.
Borussia Dortmund, who signed rising young star Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland this summer, were linked with a move for Alleyne in January but a deal never materialised.
And such is Alleyne’s stock that the young defender has been tracked by a number of clubs during the last 18 months.
City are keen to get the former England Under-20 international first-team football, and a loan move to a Championship club could prove the perfect platform for Alleyne to show off his skills.
City boss Pep Guardiola one said that Alleyne possessed a “special quality with the ball” and that “we trust a lot in him” having seen the talented teenager blossom in the club’s successful academy set-up.
The Spaniard included Alleyne in his FIFA Club World Cup in the United States this summer.
However, the England Under-20 international has yet to make his City debut after five years with the club, the last two of which have seen him elevated to the club’s first team squad.
HUNGRY FOR GAMES
A former Under-18 Player of the Year at the Etihad Stadium, Alleyne is understandably keen for games, but is also understood to be realistic about the patience needed to try and break into Guardiola’s star-studded side.
City have a number of young stars that are tipped for bright futures, including 19-year-old defender Jahmai Simpson-Pusey.
Alleyne revealed in an interview: “Hopefully [the next step is] playing for the club," "There's a pathway to the first team from the academy. I've got to show the manager what I can do.”
Reflecting on the influence his dad Mark has had on his career, he added: "He [my dad] was never pushy with what I did and wanted to do,” revealed Alleyne in an interview earlier this year."
“I really enjoyed football growing up. He never made me choose between cricket and football."
“I never really played cricket, I was from quite a small village so there was never really the opportunity. I just played football. I loved it so kept playing."
