Nigeria international Moses Simon says he's happy to stay at FC Nantes but has not ruled out a potential move elsewhere.

Following his impressive performances in the French top flight, the highly talented winger has been linked with moves to Premier League side Everton, Olympique Marseille, and newly promoted Ligue 1 club Paris FC.

Despite a turbulent season for the club as a whole, his consistent performances stood out, making vital contributions that helped keep the Stade de la Beaujoire side in France’s top flight.

In addition to his eight goals and 10 assists, Simon topped the league in completed take-ons with 65 from 32 appearances, five more than Auxerre’s Gaetan Perrin, while Paris Saint-Germain’s Desire Doue came third with 57.

SIMON HAS FOUND A HOME IN NANTES

Despite rumours that Simon might leave Nantes, no club has formally contacted him, so he could stay for the 2025-26 season.

The former Levante player’s contract runs until June 2026, and while the Canaries are expected to offer him a new and improved deal, the Super Eagle is happily enjoying life with the eight-time French champions.

"A club that respects you, that shows you love, of course you have to respect them and fight for them in return," Simon told SportsBoom.com.

"Nantes respect me a lot especially when I was injured, they were always there for me alongside their supporters."

"They are a big and historic club, and a former Nigerian player, Samson Siasia, played there. It’s just unfortunate that things haven’t been going well, as we’ve been fighting against relegation for the last five years."

KEEP THE DOOR OPEN

"I have a lot of love and respect for the club, but like any player, I’m always open to new challenges in life," he added.

"If I receive an offer and Nantes agree to it, I would definitely consider making a move. However, if the club decides not to accept any offers, I will fully respect my contract because I am still their player."

"My main focus is to keep playing and enjoying the game. At the end of the day, football is about passion and having fun on the pitch, and that’s what matters most to me."

Paris FC, supported by the wealthy Arnault family, has identified Simon as a key target to lead their campaign in Ligue 1 next season.

After a 46-year absence, the club is eager to make a strong impact in the top flight. Sources close to the player reveal that Paris FC is ready to offer around €12 million to secure the Nigerian winger’s services.

If Paris FC steps up their efforts, they could add him to their growing group of talented African players. His experience and skill would be a valuable asset as the club strives to establish a strong presence in France’s top division.

REVIVING NANTES' DECLINING FORTUNES

Slightly way from transfer talks, Simon offered an honest assessment of the club’s struggles during the recently concluded season.

In the 2024-25 Ligue 1 season, Nantes secured a 13th-place finish after accumulating a total of 36 points, with just a narrow margin of three points separating them from dropping into the second division.

The African winger shares his thoughts on how the club can reclaim its rightful place in French football, building on the strong foundation and achievements of its past.

He added: "We managed to retain our topflight status after a very challenging season, and now we can only look forward with hope that things will continue to improve."

"Nantes are an ambitious club with a rich history, and our past successes speak volumes about what we’re capable of achieving."

"To get back to that level, I believe the club needs to invest in more quality and experienced players. With the right additions, we can rebuild strongly and restore Nantes to the respected and competitive position it once held in French football."

Nantes may have a proud history with eight Ligue 1 titles, four Coupe de France wins, and a reputation for producing top talent, but they have battled with inconsistency and flirted with relegation more often than fans would like.
