Crystal Palace forward Uche Christantus is expected to remain at Selhurst Park for the rest of the 2025–26 Premier League season, despite reports suggesting he could leave the club in January.

SportsBoom report that there are no plans for the Nigerian striker’s loan deal to be cut short.

Loan move from Getafe

Christantus joined Crystal Palace from Getafe on transfer deadline day, signing a season-long loan with an option to buy for around £17.5m next summer.

The 24-year-old has endured a difficult start to life in England, finding it hard to establish himself under manager Oliver Glasner.

Limited game time

Christantus has yet to start a match for Palace and has made only three substitute appearances in all competitions so far.

He also featured for the club’s Under-21s in October, as he continues to work towards breaking into the senior team.

That limited playing time has led to speculation in some quarters that Palace could allow him to leave when the transfer window reopens.

Reports dismissed

However, sources close to the player have dismissed those claims, suggesting Christantus remains focused on fighting for his place in the squad.

It is understood the striker is adapting well to his new surroundings, building relationships with teammates, and receiving support from the club as he adjusts to the demands of Premier League football.

Glasner taking cautious approach

Manager Oliver Glasner has previously said that Christantus is still settling into a new country and a different league.

He told the media that player is being eased in gradually, given the strong competition for places in the current Palace side.

“He’s come to a different country and into a team that is performing well,” Glasner explained.

“Everybody knows what’s expected here, you have to show that you are ready to help the team win. That’s how we decide who plays.”

Glasner is believed to have emphasised that players must demonstrate readiness and consistency in training before being given opportunities in the starting line-up.

Determined to prove his worth

Despite his slow start, Christantus is said to be determined to make an impact in south London before the end of the campaign.

The club hierarchy are thought to remain supportive of his development and confident that he can rediscover the form that earned him his move from Spain.
