Burnley striker Ashley Barnes is set to be offered the chance to play one more season in the Premier League, SportsBoom can reveal.

The experienced hitman was a big hit for the Clarets last season as they enjoyed a memorable promotion back to the top-flight.

And having made such a big impression in his second spell at Turf Moor, the club are expected to offer the 35-year-old a one-year deal to extend his stay.

Barnes is one of three out-of-contract players at the club with midfielder and club captain Josh Brownhill and defender CJ Egan-Riley also yet to confirm their futures.

All three players see their current deals expire at the end of June, with Brownhill linked to Everton and West Ham, while centre-back Egan-Riley has been linked with a reunion with former boss Vincent Kompany at Bayern Munich.

And with star defender Maxime Esteve, the club’s player of the season, linked with a string of top clubs, there is likely to be plenty of change at Turf Moor now the transfer window has re-opened.

ATTRACTING ATTENTION

Frenchman Esteve was a mainstay of a Clarets’ defence which conceded just 16 times last season and whom kept an impressive 30 cleansheets as they finished second in the Championship with 100 points.

And so it’s little surprise he, Brownhill and Egan-Riley – three of the club’s star players – have attracted attention from rival clubs.

Clarets boss Scott Parker is keen to tie Barnes down to another deal as cover for what promises to be a tough season in the Premier League.

Barnes enjoyed ten seasons with Burnley, seven of which were in the Premier League and also included three famous promotions.

And the former Brighton, Plymouth and Norwich hitman is hoping he can play a key role next season as he looks to extend his love-affair at Turf Moor, where is loved by supporters.
