Scotland shot-stopper Angus Gunn is wanted by a string of Championship clubs, SportsBoom can reveal.
Experienced keeper Gunn has yet to find a new club after surprisingly been released by Norwich City this summer as the Canaries failed to win promotion back to the Premier League.
But the 29-year-old is already understood to be talking to a number of clubs, with Blackburn Rovers, West Brom, Stoke City and Derby County having all expressed an interest in signing him on a free transfer.
The 15-cap international has just won his place back in Steve Clarke’s national side for forthcoming friendly fixtures against Iceland and Liechtenstein respectively next month.
Gunn, who represented his country at the UEFA Euro 2024 Championship in Germany last year, will battle it out with Kilmarnock’s uncapped Robby McCrorie and Ipswich Town’s uncapped Cieran Slicker for the coveted number one slot.
And it’s no wonder clubs are queuing up for Gunn’s signature, especially with Premier League and Championship experience under his belt.
PREMIER LEAGUE PEDIGREE
The former Manchester City keeper has played 31 times in the top-flight and been between the posts for 146 times in the English second tier during a distinguished career so far.
But after a brief spell in the Premier League with the Canaries during the 2021-22 season, Gunn and the club have failed to win promotion back to the top flight.
And the Carrow Road have opted for wholesale changes, with fellow first-team players Jacob Sorensen and Onel Hernandez both high-profile first-team casualties.
Gunn is one of 16 players to be released by the club, but is understood to have no hard feelings towards his former employers, but he has been critical of the lack of communication from the club as his deal wound down.
Blackburn, West Brom, Stoke and Derby all have first-choice keepers, but all four clubs are looking to strengthen after disappointing seasons in the second tier, especially Rovers who squandered their play-off hopes despite a strong finish to the season.
