Exclusive: Spurs and Newcastle Ready to Test Juventus’ Resolve Over Jonathan David as “Not-for-Sale” Stance Holds Firm

The Canadian international and prolific goal-getter Jonathan David has officially emerged as one of the most high-profile sagas of the January transfer window. 

Currently monitored by a quartet of Premier League outfits, namely Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and West Ham United. 

The 26-year-old forward has expressed a clear desire to eventually test himself in the English top flight. However, his current status as a key pillar in the Juventus project adds a layer of immense complexity to any potential mid-season move.

Brighton were heavily linked with a summer move for the Canadian striker, but he ultimately opted to join the Italian giants, Juventus, instead.

Financial Barriers and Strategic Importance

The financial logistics of a potential deal are nearly prohibitive. Given Juventus’ firm position, only a "staggering" offer far beyond David's market valuation would even be acknowledged by the board. 

Furthermore, the Premier League recruitment teams must navigate strict Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), making a mega-bid even more difficult to structure mid-season. For Juventus, the sporting cost of losing David in January, with no immediate elite replacement available, far outweighs the financial gain, reinforcing their decision to keep the forward in Italy.

Ultimately, David’s immediate future seems firmly rooted in Turin. While the lure of the Premier League is undeniable for the player, Juventus’ refusal to sanction a departure makes a January exit highly unlikely.
