Promoted Sunderland and Burnley have made initial enquiries about signing top Northern Irish international talent Isaac Price, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

And promoted Portsmouth are also understood to have been keeping tabs on the highly-rated 21-year-old after a breakthrough season for his country.

West Brom forward Price has won many admirers after his exciting goalscoring exploits for Michael O’Neill’s national side.

The former Everton young gun has bagged nine goals in just 22 international games, quickly growing his reputation as a real star for the future.

And both the Black Cats and Clarets are believed to be happy to invest in the young star as he looks to make his big break in the Premier League, with Pompey also believed to be weighing up a move.

Price, now in only his second season with the Baggies, has already been linked with fellow Championship side Millwall, while a number of other Premier League and second tier clubs sent scouts to watch him in action last season.

Amazingly, Price only played 15 games for West Brom last season after the club signed him from Standard Liege in January on a four-year deal.

REGULAR STARTER

The Pontefract-born goalscorer featured twice as a substitute before establishing as a regular in a Baggies which frustratingly missed out on a place in the promotion play-offs.

Price started 13 games in all for the West Midlands club, but his is mature performances for his country which has seen his stock rise this season.

He joined the Baggies in a deal believed to be £2.5million having spent two seasons gaining valuable experience for Liege in the Belgian Pro League.

But the Baggies are unlikely to let him leave for cheap with four years left on his current deal.

They also realise how big a talent Price is and are keen to keep him as they try and make a concerted bid to be in the promotion mix next season.
