Exclusive: Terem Moffi’s OGC Nice Situation Beyond Repair as January Exit Looms

Nigeria's Terem Moffi is set to leave OGC Nice in January amidst clashes with club ultras. With interest from French and Belgian clubs, the striker's decision to leave comes after a physical assault at the training ground. Nice may sanction a loan move to ease financial burdens, giving Moffi options for a fresh start.

Terem Moffi wants to leave Ligue 1 club OGC Nice when the January transfer window opens, with a number of French and Belgian clubs monitoring his situation.

SportsBoom can exclusively confirm that Moffi's situation at Nice is beyond repair with the club ultra not ready to welcome him back to the squad.

Moffi was physically assaulted alongside Ivorian star Jeremie Boga at the team's training ground after they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Lorient on November 30.

The former Lorient forward moved to Nice on an initial loan in January 2023 and the move was made permanent at the end of the 2022-23 season in a deal worth €30 million.

Since his arrival, Moffi has scored 20 Ligue 1 goals for Nice which include two goals so far this season and he

The Eagles are on a nine-game losing streak in all competitions, with their last win dating back to October 29 against Lille in the Ligue 1.

They are also enduring similar woes in the UEFA Europa League, having earned no points after six games and they are left at the bottom of the table.

Back in October, Moffi told SportsBoom that OGC Nice were still a “work in progress” and urged patience during their slow start to the season — a stance that sharply contrasts with his current fractured relationship with the club.

    What Next for Moffi

Having excused himself from Nigeria's campaign for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Moffi now has a decision to make on his next club.

Due to his high wages in the Cote d'Azur as the second-highest paid player in Franck Haise's team, Nice would be ready to sanction a loan move in January to ease their financial burden and to focus on bolstering the squad as they fight to revive their disappointing season.

Moffi could consider an initial loan move away from Allianz Riveira with some French clubs and Belgian Pro A now considering his file.
