Spurs will turn to fan favourite Harry Redknapp or Sean Dyche should the axe fall to end Igor Tudor’s chaotic reign as interim manager, SportsBoom can reveal.
Our sources have been told Tudor is understood to have been given two more games to save his job-against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League next Tuesday and at Liverpool on Saturday.
The 47-year-old Croatian has lost his first three matches in charge, including last Thursday’s 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace.
The fifth successive loss has dropped Spurs to within one point of the Premier League drop zone with the hierarchy fearing they will have to act if the alarming slump continues.
Former Spurs gaffer Redknapp was tipped to make a nostalgic return to the club after the Europa League holders ditched Dane Thomas Frank last month.
Instead, they made the left field appointment of ex-Juventus chief Tudor. But, sadly the experiment has seemingly failed to galvanise the dressing room.
Desperate Times For Spurs
At 79, Redknapp would become the oldest ever Premier League manager. Roy Hodgson was 76 before being let go by Crystal Palace.
However, it would be a gamble as Redknapp, previously in charge of Spurs from 2008-2012, hasn’t managed since a short spell at Birmingham nine years ago.
That’s why some insiders at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium are thought to have considered ex-Burnley, Everton and most recently Nottingham Forest boss Dyche as an alternative.
The gravel voiced gaffer is known as a firefighter when it comes to relegation battles. He has also been linked with an emotional return to Burnley, if the Lancashire club choose to replace Scott Parker.
And despite his lack of success with the Tricky Trees, he’s seen as the ideal person to motivate and instil harmony among a playing group that has started to internally combust.
Dyche was in charge of Forest for only 114 days. Tudor was appointed officially on February 14 and will have held the fort for just 30 days should he get his P45 after the Liverpool fixture.
