Tyrell Malacia’s underwhelming Old Trafford career will come to an end this month with Manchester United looking to recoup some cash for the Dutch international, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

Sources in Holland have told SportsBoom that United outcast Malacia is heading back to Eredivisie where he previously played for Feyenoord and PSV.

It is understood his current four-year deal with the Red Devils ends in the summer and won’t be renewed.

Perhaps, surprisingly to many Red Devils fans, the 25-year-old defender has other European clubs chasing his signature.

Even with Danish international Patrick Dorgu’s current hamstring injury, left back Malacia won’t be given extra game time by interim boss Michael Carrick.

His only appearance this term was as a late substitute in the 2-1 success over Newcastle on Boxing Day.

Despite that it has given encouragement to a host of potential new employees for a player who cost around £14 million in 2022 when signed by Erik Ten Hag.

The 26-year-old’s value has dropped to a fraction of that fee as knee injuries and lack of form has restricted his first team appearances, even with United struggling to recapture former glories.

United are also looking to offload striker Joshua Zirkzee, with Juventus and Crystal Palace among the clubs reportedly monitoring the Dutch forward.

Queue of Suitors

Runaway Portuguese league leaders Porto are understood to have revived interest first shown last summer.

PSV are considering bringing Malacia back after a loan spell last term while Italian giants Roma and Turkish outfit Besiktas are also keen

And there is always an escape route to the Saudi Pro League where wage demands wouldn’t be an issue.

Malacia was a member of Holland’s 2022 World Cup squad having won his first senior cap a year earlier. Scottish Premiership side Celtic were also in the hunt for Malacia before United won the race.

It hasn’t proved one of the club’s better bits of business and they certainly haven’t received value for money.
