Exclusive: Wolves Eye Juventus Star Andrea Cambiaso as Ait-Nouri Replacement

Wolves are in a battle with Nottingham Forest and AC Milan to sign Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiaso. The Italian is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League, with Wolves prepared to offer around £25 million for his services. Despite Cambiaso denying requesting a transfer, Wolves are determined to secure him as a replacement for Ait-Nouri.

Wolves have enquired about trying to sign Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiaso, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The club’s Portuguese boss Vitor Pereira is believed to be a big fan of the player and keen to find a replacement for Rayan Ait-Nouri following his high-profile £31million move to Manchester City.

Nottingham Forest and AC Milan are also reportedly interested in trying to sign, but Wolves are pushing hard to try and recruit Italy international Cambiaso as cover.

And flush with cash following the sale of Algeria defender Ait-Nouri, as well as Brazil striker Matheus Cunha to Manchester United for £62.5million, the Midlands club feel they have plenty of pulling power to try and land Cambiaso for around £25million.

Juventus signed Cambiaso on a five-year deal in July 2022 and he has since played 81 times for the Italian giants, 67 of those appearances having come in Serie A.

And after two seasons at the Juventus Stadium it is understood the player is keen for a change of scenery – and the Premier League provides an appealing proposition.

Cambiaso chipped in with five goals last season as Juve finished a frustrating fourth in Serie A, some 12 points behind eventual champions Napoli.

FRUSTRATING SEASON

The 14-cap Italy international won the Coppa Italia cup crown two seasons ago with Juve, but the club struggled to keep pace with Napoli last season and finished further down the pecking order than they would have liked.

In a strange twist of events, Cambiaso recently played down talk that he had asked to leave Juventus having been linked to AC Milan and Manchester City.

“I haven’t received any call, maybe my agents have,” Cambiaso cryptically said. “But I never asked to leave.”

The 25-year-old former Genoa defender has three years left remaining on his contract, so any move away would likely land the club a decent transfer fee.

But the ball now remains firmly in Wolves court as to whether they will a table a bid for the versatile wing-back.
