Manchester United are open to the prospect of bringing Robert Lewandowski to the club this summer, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

Our sources have been told the Red Devils are ready to offer the Polish legend a one-year contract.

The 37-year-old is out of contract at Barcelona at the end of the season and will assess his options when the campaign closes.

It is understood United bosses are eager to have the former Bayern Munich ace mentor duo Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško.

Barcelona are also in the process of offering the experienced hitman a one-year extension at the club.

However, it is understood to include a significant pay cut and be mainly based on performance-related bonuses as the La Liga outfit try to balance the books.

It remains to be seen whether Lewandowski is interested in the proposal from Barca bosses.

Our sources understand Lewandowski wants a multi-year deal as he heads towards retirement.

It is thought a number of MLS outfits are eager to secure his services.

Inter Miami are understood to be interested in making a move for the ten-time Bundesliga winner.

But the prospect of playing in the Premier League, even for just a year, could prove alluring to Lewandowski.

With Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee set to leave the club this summer, Lewandowski would be a shrewd acquisition for the Red Devils.

One Of The Best Ever

Lewandowski started his career in Poland before signing a four-year deal with Borussia Dortmund in 2010.

The prolific hitman helped fire the club to a domestic Bundesliga and cup double in the 2011/12 season, defending their league title, as well as a Champions League final the following campaign.

After scoring 103 goals in 187 games for Dortmund he moved to domestic rivals Bayern Munich and went on to score a staggering 344 goals in 375 games for the club and boasts a number of records during a trophy-laden spell.

He has won two La Liga crowns whilst at Barca, where he has netted 117 times in 184 games.

The Red Devils have a strong history of maximising the impact of world-class veteran strikers, having recently featured stars like Zlatan Ibrahimović, Edinson Cavani, and the returning Cristiano Ronaldo.
