Fulham, Leeds, and More Eye João Palhinha Amid Uncertain Bayern Future

Several Premier League clubs including Brighton, Wolves, West Ham, and Leeds United are interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Joao Palhinha. The 29-year-old Portuguese midfielder is open to returning to England for more playing time after limited opportunities in Germany. Bayern boss Vincent Kompany is happy with midfield options but Palhinha has reportedly held talks with Fulham about a potential move back to Craven Cottage.

A string of Premier League clubs are monitoring João Palhinha's Bayern Munich future, SportsBoom sources understand.

The Portuguese international midfielder has already been linked with a move to his former club Fulham this summer.

But it has now emerged Brighton, Wolves, West Ham and newly-promoted Leeds United have also been monitoring Palhinha’s next move, with the 29-year-old understood to be open to a move back to England.

Palhinha only joined Bayern on a four-year deal last July, but has played just 15 games for the German Bundesliga side in a stop-start season.

His £48million deal nearly collapsed but since he arrived playing opportunities have been frustratingly limited.

Former England international Eric Dier has also been out-of-favour at the Allianz Arena, with the club having run away with the domestic title this term with England skipper Harry Kane banging in the goals for fun.

Palhinha has played more regularly the last couple of months, but played just one game in January and one game in February.

SECRET TALKS

SportsBoom understands the defensive-minded midfielder would not be against a move back to the Premier League to get some more regular football.

The player has mustered just six starts all season, primarily used as a substitute by Bayern to help close out games in the second half.

But Palhinha was a mainstay for Fulham prior to his high-profile to Germany less than 12 months ago.

Bayern boss Vincent Kompany is believed to be happy with his strong midfield options, especially having stormed to the domestic title in only his first season in charge.

Palhinha has reportedly held secret talks with Fulham about a potential move back to Craven Cottage, where he would no doubt be welcomed back with open arms after two decent seasons for the club.

He played 68 games in two seasons in his time in South West London and was well-liked by the club’s loyal supporters.
