Exclusive: Everton and Bournemouth Chase January Loan for Man City Starlet Abdukodir Khusanov

Everton and AFC Bournemouth are both monitoring Abdukodir Khusanov’s situation as they look to strengthen their defensive rotations during the January transfer window.

The two Premier League clubs are considering a potential loan deal for the Uzbekistan international. However, Manchester City are currently taking a cautious approach. 

City are reluctant to let the young centre-back leave mid-season, as they do not want to interrupt his current development plan. 

A loan move would only be considered if the player explicitly asks for more playing time and a convincing project is presented to the technical staff.

A Tactical Profile Fit for the Premier League

Khusanov is highly regarded for his physical strength, aerial dominance, and ability to play out from the back. These attributes make him a valuable profile for the high-tempo nature of the Premier League, especially for teams operating in a deep block or looking for a threat during set-pieces.

For Everton, the interest is driven by a busy fixture list and recent injury concerns in their backline. They see Khusanov as a reliable short-term alternative. 

Bournemouth, on the other hand, are looking for a defender who can improve their quality in possession while providing pace and tactical awareness in transition defence.

With current Cherries starter Marcos Senesi reportedly in talks with Italian side Napoli and having rejected several lucrative contract offers to extend his stay, a short-term loan move for Khusanov could present Bournemouth with an ideal stop-gap solution should the Argentine depart.

City's Development First Approach

Manchester City’s priority is protecting the player’s rhythm and long-term potential. The club believes their current training standards and selective match planning are best for his growth. Therefore, any loan agreement must offer more than just "guaranteed minutes"; it must be a project with clear tactical and technical alignment. The specific role and defensive responsibilities offered by Everton or Bournemouth will be the deciding factors.

On the financial side, no concrete figures have been discussed yet. The clubs are currently in the "monitoring and inquiry" phase. While a standard loan fee and salary-sharing structure would be expected, City are prioritising sporting reasons over financial gain.

If Khusanov pushes for a move to secure more first-team football this winter, City may re-evaluate their stance. Otherwise, it is increasingly likely that the defender will finish the season with his parent club. Unless a perfect developmental project is offered, no immediate breakthrough is expected in these talks.
