Managerless Man Utd are eyeing a big-money move for Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers. The talented playmaker is a long-term target for the club, with former players like Scholes and Butt endorsing his signing. Despite interest from other clubs, United are determined to secure him for the upcoming transfer window.

Managerless Manchester United are contemplating a sensational swoop for Aston Villa and England playmaker Morgan Rogers, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The Red Devils might have only just sacked former boss Ruben Amorim after just 14 months in charge, but our sources understand plans have been in place as long as eight months for a big-money move to try and prize Rogers away from Villa Park.
That move might not happen in the January transfer window, but club insiders have told SportsBoom that Rogers is one of their top targets.
And depending on whichever manager takes over the permanent role in the summer, as the club have said is now their preference, Rogers is a player of such undoubted quality that he would fit straight in at Old Trafford.
Former United stars Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt have both gone on record as saying they would love the club to sign the talented 23-year-old midfielder/winger.
SportsBoom’s sources had already revealed in October that Villa were preparing a lucrative new deal to ward off top-six interest in January, and Rogers signed that contract weeks later in November, committing to Villa until 2031.
CHUNK OF CASH
But United know they would likely have to fork on a huge chunk of money to secure his services, much in the same vein as they did to sigh Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
Former United manager Amorim was understood to have admired Rogers, but the Portuguese coach was sent packing after unwisely criticising the club’s hierarchy.
However, while United are understandably determined to fine the right successor for Amorim, transfer activity and moves for long-term targets is not set to stop, with United believed to have been monitoring Rogers for a long time, even before he won England recognition.
Capped 12 times by his country, Rogers is looking forward to playing in this year’s World Cup in America.
And with Villa flying high in second spot in the Premier League after a fine start to the season, it will take a lot for United to win the race to sign Rogers, especially with other top clubs rumoured to be interested in signing him.
