West Ham United have approached Chelsea about the prospect of buying outcast Axel Disasi if they stay up, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The Frenchman, 28, has played his part in helping the Hammers tighten up their defence as they have hauled themselves closer to safety in recent weeks.
Our sources have been told Chelsea would be open to offers for the defender this summer as they look to trim the fat off their sizeable squad.
Centre-back Disasi moved across London on a chaotic deadline-day for a £1.7million loan fee, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side six points adrift of safety.
They are now just a solitary point off Tottenham Hotspur in 17th after an upturn in results.
Since Disasi’s arrival, he has helped the club keep three clean sheets in seven Premier League appearances which have included draws with Manchester United and Manchester City.
And that has led to Nuno prompting the Hammers’ board to green light a summer move for the defender.
Nuno knows he will only get his man if he masterminds the club’s survival, but the Portuguese boss is confident he can steer the east London club to safety despite their 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa at the weekend.
Crystal Palace were reportedly interested in signing Disasi in January and could revisit a move this summer if West Ham don’t act quickly.
Out Of Favour At The Bridge
Disasi penned a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge when he moved for £38.5million from Monaco in the summer of 2023.
He made 31 Premier League appearances during his debut campaign at the club, but is one of a number of players who have fallen foul of the size of the squad in the past couple of years.
Last term he spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Aston Villa after making 17 appearances, only six in the league, for the Blues.
This season he failed to make a single appearance at Chelsea before being shipped out on loan to the London Stadium last month.
Since being at West Ham, he said: "I'm lucky because I feel part of something and loved."
