Fiorentina face competition in their bid to sign Nottingham Forest loanee Lorenzo Lucca as two clubs in Spain consider entering the race for the Napoli centre-forward’s services, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
After being informed that Vitor Pereira’s side will not be offering him a permanent switch to the City Ground when the season draws to a close, the 25-year-old is researching his options in the transfer market this summer having also been declared surplus to requirements in Campania.
Officials at the Artemio Franchi are expected to make an approach to Lucca’s representatives shortly, after unveiling an ambitious strategy designed to force them back into Europe following a campaign battling against relegation.
Although the Italy international’s preference is a return to Serie A, sources last night told SportsBoom that he could also be offered the chance to pursue a career in La Liga with Getafe and Sevilla thought to be monitoring his situation closely.
Milan have also added Lucca’s name to a long list of potential targets but will only show their hand if others prove unobtainable.
PERFECT FIT
Standing six feet and seven inches tall, Getafe view the one-time Torino youngster’s physicality as perfectly fitting into their combative approach, which stands in stark contrast to the strategy employed by the majority of their domestic rivals.
Sevilla, witnessing how Jose Bordalas’ side have punched above their weight this term, are also set to adopt a more robust style and believe, should Fiorentina procrastinate, they stand a chance of persuading him to move there.
Lucca, whose two spells in Turin were sandwiched in between stints at Chieri and Vicenza, has endured a frustrating time in the east Midlands since leaving Antonio Conte’s team; scoring once in seven appearances.
Capped five times by his country, Lucca is thought to be keen on discussing a switch to Florence after being impressed by their ambition amid a widespread shake-up behind the scenes.
