Manchester United have cranked the heat to boiling point in their pursuit of Nottingham Forest midfield star Elliot Anderson, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The Old Trafford giants have their eyes firmly locked on one of English football’s brightest rising forces as they look to crown a stunning season with a statement signing.

Anderson, 23, has become the heartbeat of Forest’s engine room. A midfield metronome with bite, balance and fearless drive.

Now he stands at the centre of a transfer storm, with United leading the hunt as they try to prise him away from the City Ground.

The England international, capped seven times, is firmly on the radar of Thomas Tuchel ahead of this summer’s World Cup. A blockbuster move to United before the World Cup could be the final push that seals his place in the squad.

United’s top brass are said to be captivated by Anderson’s all action style. They see him as the missing piece in a midfield built to dominate at home and in Europe.

DRIVING FORCE

With Champions League nights back at Old Trafford, the pitch is simple. Join the revival and become its driving force.

However, Forest are standing firm. They know his worth. Signed for £35 million in July 2024, Anderson has exploded in value after a run of commanding displays.

Last season he made 36 appearances and scored four goals, taking his tally to 90 games for the club, with 73 in the Premier League spotlight.

But this is no quiet chase. Manchester City and Chelsea are both watching closely, ready to strike if United slip.

RENEWED BELIEF

City had been confident of landing him, but the mood is shifting. Anderson is believed to favour a move to Old Trafford, drawn by the club’s resurgence and renewed belief.

The numbers are huge. Forest want close to £100 million for their prized asset. United are preparing an offer nearer £80 million, a bid designed to test resolve and force a decision.

From Newcastle cast off to midfield main man, Anderson’s rise has been relentless.

Now United are turning up the pressure. And this saga is ready to erupt.

Completing a deal before the World Cup starts would be strategically significant for Manchester United, with Elliot Anderson’s likely England starting role set to elevate both his profile and market value on the global stage.
