Top 10 highest scores of IPL 2024

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the Sunrisers Hyderabad created a record for the highest team total in the tournament's history. Against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, they posted a huge 287 for 3, which is also the second-highest team total in T20 cricket history. 

This was not the only big total scored by the Sunrisers in IPL 2024. Some of their other huge totals in the list of the top 10 highest totals in IPL 2024 were 277 for 3 and 266 for 7. Unfortunately, their batting lineup faltered on the day it mattered the most. In the final against Kolkata Knight Riders, the Sunrisers were bowled out for just 113 runs, which cost them the trophy. 

List of Top 10 Highest Scores in IPL 2024

Sunrisers Hyderabad - 287 for 3

The highest score in IPL 2024 was achieved by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who scored a massive 287 for 3 against the Royals Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This is the second-highest total in T20 history after Nepal's 314 for 3 against Mongolia at the 2023 Asian Games. 

Travis Head played a sensational knock, scoring 102 off just 41 balls at a strike rate of 248.78. Also significant was Heinrich Klaasen's contribution of 67 runs off 31 balls. RCB put up an excellent fight in their chase of the mammoth total before eventually falling short by 25 runs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad - 277 for 3

The record for the second-highest score in the IPL 2024 also belongs to the Sunrisers. In match no. 8 of IPL 2024, the Pat Cummins-led team posted a huge total of 277 for 3 against the Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. Travis Head (62 off 24), Abhishek Sharma (63 off 23), Aiden Markram (42* off 28) and Heinrich Klaasen (80* off 34) helped post the big score. Mumbai Indians did not give up easily, and finished on 246 for 5, losing the match by 31 runs. 

Kolkata Knight Riders - 272 for 7

Kolkata Knight Riders, winners of IPL 2024, scored their highest team total against the Delhi Capitals during their title-winning campaign. Batting first in Vishakapatnam, the Shreyas Iyer-led side scored a total of 272 for 7. Opener Sunil Narine went all guns blazing as he scored 85 off 39 with the help of seven fours and as many maximums. Angriksh Raghuvanshi also scored a half century, while down the order, Rinku Singh chipped in with 26 off just 8 at a strike rate of 325. The Capitals, led by Rishabh Pant, fell short of 106 runs in their chase after seven of their batsmen scored in single digits. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad - 266 for 7

The Sunrisers put up several sensational batting performances in the IPL 2024. In match 35 against the Capitals, they piled up 266 for 7 at the Kotla in Delhi. Openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma stitched together a first-wicket partnership of 131 runs. Head scored 89 off 32 while Sharma brought up 46 off merely 12 deliveries with the help of two fours and six sixes. Shahbaz Ahmed also contributed with an unbeaten 59 off 29. In reply, the Capitals kept losing wickets at regular intervals and eventually lost the match by 67 runs. 

Punjab Kings - 262 for 2

The Punjab Kings created history in IPL 2024 when they recorded the highest successful chase in T20 cricket. Against KKR at the Eden Gardens, the Kings chased down 262 with eight balls to spare. Jonny Bairstow has the KKR bowlers dancing to his tunes - the opened scored 108 off 48 at a strike rate of 225. He was well supported by his opening partner Prabhsimran Singh, who contributed 54 off just 20 being before run out. Shashank Singh delivered an equally exceptional knock, chipping in with 68 runs off just 28 balls. All of these batsmen scored their respective knocks against one of the best bowling attacks of IPL 2024, making the match even more memorable.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru - 262 for 7

When the Sunrisers posted the highest ever team total in IPL history, RCB gave an excellent fight in their chase, thereby entering the list of highest scores in IPL 2024. Chasing 288 to win, RCB finished on 262 for 7 in their 20 overs. Dinesh Karthik was the top run-scorer with a 35-ball 83 laced with five boundaries and seven maximums. At the top of the order, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis scored 80 runs together. Kohli finished on 42 off 20 while du Plessis smashed 62 off 28. 

Kolkata Knight Riders - 261 for 6

KKR scored their second-highest total in IPL 2024 in a losing cause when Punjab Kings registered the highest run chase in the history of T20 cricket. Openers Phil Salt and Sunil Narine scored 138 runs together for the first wicket. Salt scored 75 off 37 at a strike rate of 202.70 while Narine finished on 71 off 32 at a strike rate of 221.87. Andre Russell and Shreyas Iyer also contributed with short but quickfire knocks. Unfortunately, KKR's total came in a losing cause and Punjab chased down the total with 8 balls to spare.

Delhi Capitals - 257 for 4

Match 43 of the IPL 2024 was a closely fought contest which the Capitals won by 10 runs. The Feroz Shah Kotla stadium witnessed a run fest as their home team and the visiting team, Mumbai Indians, scored a total of 504 runs in 40 overs. 
Batting first, the Capitals posted 257 for 4. A large part of the total came from the knocks played by Jake Fraser-McGurk (84 off 27), Shai Hope (41 off 17) and Tristan Stubbs (48* off 25). Delhi went on to win the match by 10 runs, but Mumbai's excellent effort while chasing the target got them to the list of the highest team totals in IPL 2024. 

Mumbai Indians - 247 for 9

As discussed above, the Capitals posted a total of 257 for 4 in match 43. In reply, the Mumbai Indians put up a good fight before losing the match by just 10 runs. They finished on 247 for 9 after Tilak Verma top scored with a knock of 63.
