English Premier League: Gameweek 12 Betting Preview & Predictions

After drawing at home to Arsenal last time out, Chelsea will be eager to get back to winning ways as they continue their push for a top-four finish. The Blues are third on the log, ahead of Arsenal on goal difference, and have scored as many goals (21) as leaders Liverpool. Leicester City, on the other hand, are languishing in the bottom half of the table (15th) and are winless in their last four games, suffering three defeats. Chelsea is unbeaten in their last six encounters with the Foxes, winning five times.

Although they find themselves in the bottom half of the table, Bournemouth have been hugely impressive under Andoni Iraola this season. The Cherries are on a three-match winning streak at the Vitality Stadium. That record becomes even more striking when you consider those wins came against Southampton, Arsenal and Manchester City. Brighton have also impressed under Fabian Hurzeler, sitting sixth in the table – level on points with third-placed Chelsea. The Seagulls beat Manchester City before the international break, once again showing their quality. 

Back at the Emirates Stadium, with some key players returning from injury, Arsenal will be confident of getting back to winning ways this weekend. Mikel Arteta’s side haven’t won a league game since beating Southampton 3-1 at home on October 5. Since then, they suffered losses to Bournemouth and Newcastle and drew with Liverpool and Chelsea. Nottingham Forest, who they are level on points with, will be a good test on Saturday. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have won three of their last four games and are unbeaten on their travels. They stunned Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield on September 14 and drew at Brighton and Chelsea. 

Although Aston Villa are still in a good position in the league – only a point behind Chelsea and Arsenal – the Midlands club has had a poor run of form in recent weeks. Villa is winless in five games across all competitions with four defeats in a row. Unai Emery will be hoping his side gets back on track against Crystal Palace on Saturday before a daunting trip to Chelsea next weekend. Oliver Glasner’s side are desperate for points as they find themselves in the relegation zone. In their five away games, the Eagles have lost three and drawn two. 

Everton have only lost once in seven games but have drawn four in that run. While the positives are that they are proving tough to beat, turning draws into wins will be essential to climb the table and improve on last season’s 15th-place finish. The Toffees have a good chance of victory on Saturday against Brentford who they beat three times in a row. The Bees are yet to sting on their travels having lost all five of their away matches.

Fulham will be looking to make it three wins in a row when they welcome Wolves to Craven Cottage on Saturday. Marco Silva’s side have made a good start to the season, sitting seventh after 11 games, just a point behind London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal. They claimed back-to-back wins over Brentford (2-1 at home) and Crystal Palace (2-0 away). Meanwhile, Wolves are languishing near the foot of the table, in 19th place, and are yet to register a win on the road. Gary O’Neil’s side have lost three and drew two on their travels this season.

Manchester City will be desperate to get back to winning ways following a rare four straight defeats. However, the task of turning things around on the training ground would have been challenging for Pep Guardiola, with so many players away on international duty. The Citizens face a challenging encounter against Tottenham, who dumped them out of the Carabao Cup last month with a 2-1 victory. Ange Postecoglou’s side will also be eager to bounce with a win after losing at home to Ipswich Town last time out. The north Londoners are also looking to put an end to their three-game losing streak away from home. 

It’s top versus bottom in the early kick-off on Sunday as leaders Liverpool travel to basement dwellers Southampton. Arne Slot’s men are eyeing a fifth win in a row across all competitions, while the Saints are hoping to avoid a 10th league defeat. Liverpool will end the weekend at the top of the table regardless of any result here, but these aren’t the kind of games where ‘champions’ slip up. The Reds know they must stay focused and deliver a solid performance to ensure a comfortable win. 

Ipswich Town will relish the chance to give Ruben Amorim a memorable introduction to the Premier League. Against the odds, Kieran McKenna’s side stunned Spurs 2-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last time out and will be hopeful of another upset at Portman Road. For Manchester United’s players, it’s an opportunity to start fresh and prove themselves to the new manager, especially with the transfer window on the horizon. With the talent already in the squad and the added motivation to secure their place at the club, we can expect an exciting and highly competitive contest. 

Newcastle United will be looking to continue their winning form when they welcome West Ham to St. James’ Park on Monday night. Eddie Howe’s side are on an impressive three-match winning streak having beaten Arsenal and Nottingham Forest in the league, before eliminating Chelsea from the Carabao Cup. Meanwhile, West Ham’s performances have been hit-and-miss, with manager Julen Lopetegui facing increasing scrutiny over his team selections and tactical decisions.
