Spurs host the Blues in a mouth-watering London derby this weekend. Thomas Frank’s side have adjusted to life well under the Dane and are in third place after nine games in the Premier League, and are coming into the tie off the back of a three-nil away win over Everton. The visitors, on the other hand, looked to have turned the tide with victory over the champions and Nottingham Forest respectively, but were undone by a late goal in their last game against Sunderland, so Enzo Maresca will be expecting a reaction from his players.

Key Players to watch

  • Xavi Simons: The recruit looks to be settling in well in North London, and he has already registered an assist in his six appearances in the competition.
  • Mohammed Kudus: The Ghanaian international leads the league for dribbles and has created four assists while scoring once for Frank's side this season.
  • Brennan Johnson: The Englishman is lethal in front of goal and has the ability to run in behind the defence well. Johnson has two goals in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Frank is without a large number of first-team players, as James Maddison, Radu Dragusin, Dejan Kulusevski, and Destiny Udogie all have knee injuries, while Dominic Solanke has an ankle issue, and Cristian Romero has a knock, but he may be fit to face Chelsea.

Chelsea Current Form – LLWWL

Maresca’s side looked to be on the up after that solid showing against the champions, and they backed it up with victory over Forest, only to lose to Sunderland a week later. The Italian will expect a reaction from his players as they travel to face their London rivals.

  • Alejandro Garnacho: Garnacho bagged his first goal for his new club last weekend, and the winger is lightning quick and has the ability to score goals from out wide.

Chelsea Team News

The Blues will be without Levi Colwill, who has a knee injury, while Dario Essugo (thigh) and Cole Palmer (groin) will also be out for the trip to face Spurs. The positive news for Maresca is Liam Delap, who is nearing a return to full fitness.
