Juventus could attempt to persuade Marcus Rashford to join them next season if he is unable to negotiate a permanent transfer to Barcelona, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The Manchester United forward is approaching the end of a season-long loan in Catalonia, with a clause allowing Hansi Flick’s employers to permanently acquire his services for a fee of around £26million understood to have expired last month.

With a return to Old Trafford by no means certain, despite the departure of Ruben Amorim earlier this term, Rashford is once again facing an uncertain future given the precarious financial situation at the Nou Camp.

He is prepared to accept a significantly reduced salary in order to remain there next term but, with The Red Devils keen to raise funds to facilitate a major summer overhaul without breaching the Premier League and UEFA’s spending regulations, Barca are exploring cheaper, alternative options in the transfer market.

Juve Back In the Market For Rashford

And that has alerted Juve, who wanted Rashford before his switch to La Liga, to the possibility of resurrecting their interest once the current Serie A campaign draws to a close.

Although Italy is not the former England attacker’s preferred option, its desirability will increase if it becomes apparent he does not feature in United’s plans and Barca are unable to broker a deal following their Champions League exit.

Juve are also set to embark on a big summer recruitment drive following what, by their own high-standards, have been several underwhelming years in Turin.

Although Michael Carrick is open to the possibility of offering Rashford a route back into The Red Devils’ starting eleven, the decision is expected to be taken out of his hands given that he only succeeded the Portuguese on an interim basis which has limited his authority of strategy.

Carrick could yet be rewarded with a new long-term deal but Rashford, who harbours ambitions of forcing his way back into the Three Lions’ squad, can not afford to risk leaving a decision on the next phase of his career until the ex-Middlesbrough chief’s situation is resolved given that he turns 29 in October.
