Rangers are facing a huge call over whether to pull the plug on Danny Röhl’s brief reign at Ibrox after a title collapse that has thrown his future into doubt, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The 37 year old watched his side slump to a damaging 3-1 defeat against arch rivals Celtic, a result that effectively ended their Premiership hopes and left supporters raging after a faltering finish.

And SportsBoom understands Rangers chiefs are already considering potential replacements for next season, despite Röhl having hauled the club back into contention after a miserable start to the campaign.

The former Sheffield Wednesday boss made a bright impact in Glasgow, restoring belief and turning Rangers into genuine challengers.

At one stage, the title looked there for the taking. But the wheels came off at the worst possible moment.

DECISIVE BLOW

Defeats against Motherwell and Hearts piled on the pressure before bitter rivals Celtic delivered the decisive blow that ended the dream.

Röhl has now taken charge of around 38 matches since arriving at Ibrox. While that run reignited hope, the manner of the late collapse has left many fans questioning whether he is the man to take the club forward.

Despite the growing uncertainty, Röhl has come out fighting.

“I understand the frustration," admitted Rohl.

"This club demands success and I demand that from myself and the players. But I believe in what we are building here.”

The German insisted he is not fazed by the speculation surrounding his future.

“I have never underestimated the size of Rangers or the expectations that come with it. I still believe I am the right man to lead this club and take it where it belongs,” he added.

BIGGER PICTURE

Röhl also pointed to the progress made since his arrival, stressing that the bigger picture should not be ignored.

“When I came in, we had a lot to fix," he said.

"We have made big steps forward. Of course we are disappointed now, but this is not the end of the journey.”

However, the mood among supporters has shifted sharply, with many now doubting whether he has the experience and edge needed to deliver silverware.

Chairman Andrew Cavenagh has yet to confirm whether Röhl will remain in charge, only intensifying the uncertainty.

Rangers now stand at a crossroads, with a major decision looming over who will lead them into next season.
