Chelsea vs Wolves Preview: Odds, Tips and Prediction

Date: November 08, 2025 Venue: Stamford Bridge Kickoff Time: 22:00 A second meeting within a space of just over a week awaits these two clubs after they met in the EFL Cup fourth round, where Chelsea edged Wolves 4-3 on the night to advance to the next stage. That being said, it has not been a great start to the 2025/26 season for the Blues, considering they came in as FIFA Club World Cup champions; they continue to struggle finding consistency. For Wolves, it's been dreadful from day one, and they have been performing way below Premier League standards. Vitor Periera and his men are still searching for their first win of the season as they look like early relegation favorites down in 20th place.

Chelsea Current Form – WWLWW

Enzo Maresca has been recognized as the man to restore Chelsea into the powerhouse they once were and bring back the glory days to Stamford Bridge. It could be said that the Italian is still trying to establish who his best XI is, even with the undeniable quality they have in abundance. However, Maresca has delivered two major titles for the Blues, the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup, adding to the list of major honors Chelsea has achieved, but fans can argue that he is still far off the pace when it comes to competing for the league title.

Across the last five fixtures, Chelsea have managed four victories and a single loss in all competitions. The surprise defeat to Sunderland raised many questions about Maresca and the mentality of his young squad, but they quickly took a step back in the right direction after winning the London derby with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham. Confidence and belief will be high in the Chelsea camp ahead of hosting Wolves, which could give them the extra edge to go on and collect another important three points.

Key Players To Watch

  • Estevao: Estevao has been brilliant since joining Chelsea. Despite his young age, the Brazilian has made an immediate impact and has become one of the key figures in attack for Maresca. He has the ability to take on defenders in one-on-one situations with skill and pace, which has benefited Chelsea in the final third. His creativity allows him to influence the game in ways that create scoring opportunities for his teammates, while showing the composure to find the back of the net himself.
  • Joao Pedro: Joao Pedro has taken this new challenge head-on after signing for Chelsea from Brighton and has become the main target man up front for the Blues. The Brazilian has enjoyed a good run of form under Maresca's guidance, which has seen him score and provide assists. His relentless pressing is a nightmare for defenders as he has the speed to close down spaces quickly, while being gifted with the skill and technical ability to not only work in small spaces but under pressure as well.
  • Enzo Fernandez: Fernandez is starting to live up to the price tag that has been bestowed upon him and now looks the part. The World Cup champion has been solid in the midfield for the Blues as he offers quality in attack with his passing range and scoring prowess, while assisting in defence with his robust style of play. The Argentine is one of the first names on the team sheet as his presence on the field galvanizes the team.

Chelsea Team News

Levi Colwill had to undergo surgery for a torn ACL injury he sustained and will miss a large chunk of the 2025/26 season as he fights his way back to full fitness. Benoit Badiashile is sidelined due to a muscle strain and is ruled out until December, while Cole Palmer continues to work on his recovery from his groin injury and hopes to be back in time for the clash against Barcelona in the Champions League at the end of November.

Wolves Current Form – LLLLD

Vitor Periera came in on the back of last season and did a remarkable job by saving Wolves from relegation. However, after losing some of their key players, they have had a terrible start to the 2025/26 season and now find themselves in 20th place and the only team yet to win a match thus far. Despite displaying quality performances at times, victories have been hard to come by for Periera, and if they want to maintain their place in the English top-flight next season, an immediate turnaround is required before relegation becomes a reality.

It’s beginning to look like Wolves have no answer or solution to pull themselves out of this slump they find themselves in. After the 1-1 draw against Brighton, Wolves have recorded four consecutive defeats and still remain the only team in the top-flight yet to win this season as they stay rooted to the foot of the table on two points. Periera’s men will need to be well-organized defensively and utilize counterattacking football if they aim to come away from Stamford Bridge with a positive result.

Key Players To Watch

  • Jorgen Strand Larsen: Larsen has been a solid player for a Wolves and always offers a threat going forward. The Norwegian often makes clever runs in behind the defensive lines to either create scoring opportunities or get in on goal himself. Despite the form Wolves find themselves in, Larsen is selfless and is always determined to give his best for the team.
  • Joao Gomes: Gomes has been a good addition to Wolves' midfield. He is ever reliable and shows great intent when in possession, offering creativity in the final third. He is always looking to get on the ball, which is a sign of a good footballer who believes in his ability. He has shown to carry the ball with skill and make strong runs through the midfield, linking up play as well as providing opportunities for his teammates.
  • Santiago Bueno: Bueno is the rock in defence, despite the position and form Wolves are in at the moment. The Uruguayan defender has shown grit and good reading of the game, which allows him to anticipate and block passing lines. While showing his strength in defence, he also has the ability to play out from the back with composure and initiate counterattacks as well as being a threat during set-pieces.

Wolves Team News

Matt Doherty and Rodrigo Gomes both picked up injuries in the last match against Chelsea, which saw them miss the game against Fulham and are doubtful for this clash, given they did not recover and pass a fitness test to be included in the matchday squad.
