Exclusive: “My Best is Yet to Come at Sheffield Wednesday,” says Svante Ingelsson
Midfield maestro Svante Ingelsson insists his best is yet to come him as looks to nail down a regular starting spot in the Sheffield Wednesday side.

The Swede has struggled for consistency since joining Wednesday on a free transfer from German club Hansa Rostock last summer. He has been in and out of the team, featuring 11 times in the Championship.
But the 26-year-old has started their past two league matches against Norwich City and Sheffield United.
He told SportsBoom.com: "It's difficult to assess my season. We have changed the team a lot. Everybody has played but, of course, you want to play more. Like every player, you want to play every game.”
"I've done alright so far. I've come to a new club and a new country, and I've been getting used to the football here."
Ingelsson Adapting to the Championship and Aiming for Goals
Renowned for being an energetic left-sided player, Ingelsson is keen to open his goal-scoring account.
But Ingelsson stressed: "It's more important to me that the team gets the results that we want. Of course, I always want to score and contribute to help the team get points.”
Hopefully I will get better and more comfortable with the situations in this league and the teams that you come up against.
Svante Ingelsson
"The Championship is a different style of football to what I'm used to. It is more tactical playing wise in Germany whereas you have to fight more here and win your duels.”
“It takes time to get used to it but I really like the Championship. It suits my game."
Reflecting on the Steel City Derby Defeat
Wednesday entered the international break on the back of a narrow Steel City derby defeat.
Tyrese Campbell's well-taken 50th minute strike condemned Wednesday to a second loss in three outings.
"There was a lot of energy in the stadium and fighting on the pitch," said Ingelsson.
"There wasn't a lot of nice football but it's always nice to play this game, but it was not the result that we wanted. They scored with their only shot on target.”
“We have to be better on the second balls on set pieces. We have conceded too many goals like that this season.”
"It was not a good football game. We had half chances but we didn't create enough. Zero-zero would have been a fair result."
With a third of the 2024/25 season gone, Danny Röhl's team sit in 15th position, three points above the drop zone.
Ingelsson added: "We have done ok so far. We have been a little up and down. We have found more stability in the last six to seven games.”
Watford was the only really bad performance, otherwise I think we are getting to be a stable team. We are performing better.
Svante Ingelsson
"This league is so close up and down. If you win two or three games in this league, you go up the table very quickly. You have to take it game by game and see where you end up.”
“You have to be in the right frame of mind every game to get results."
