Former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag would relish a return to the Premier League – and taking over at West Ham is in his sights, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal. As speculation builds around his next move, fans can explore the latest betting sites offers to see how the odds stack up on Ten Hag’s potential Premier League return.
The Dutchman managed United for nearly two-and-a-half years before being sacked at Old Trafford in October 2024 despite a 54.69 win percentage,
Ten Hag guided the Red Devils to EFL Cup and FA Cup titles in his first two seasons, but he has not managed in the English top-flight for nearly a year.
He took over at Bayern Leverkusen in July this year after a seven-month break from the game, but amazingly he lasted just three games at the German Bundesliga club after a huge clash of personalities.
The 55-year-old had penned a contract until 2027 but is understood to have received a substantial payout from the club with former Liverpool and Real Madrid ace Xabi Alonso having replaced him at the managerial helm.
And our sources understand Ten Hag is now ready to get back into management – and a return to the Premier League is an opportunity he would relish.
Ten Hag oversaw 128 games in his time at United, winning 70 of them and drawing 23.
He only lost 35 in his time in charge of the club, but it was a dismal start to the 2024-25 season which ultimately cost him his job.
FALTERING FORTUNES
It wasn’t long before highly-rated Portuguese boss Ruben Amorim took charge, but since his arrival the club’s form and gone from bad to worse with the lowest Premier League finish last season and an agonising defeat in the Europa League final to Tottenham.
Ten Hag has been linked with a number of Saudi Pro League clubs, but any potential deals never materialised, with the Saudi Pro League transfer window having slammed shut on Tuesday.
Former Ajax boss Ten Hag has done well at all of the club he has managed barring his ill-fated spell with Leverkusen.
And with Potter under severe pressure at the Hammers after a woeful start to the new season, Ten Hag is ready and waiting in the wings to make what would be a spectacular Premier League return.
