Premier League clubs Fulham and Burnley look set to miss out on the signing of Genk striker Tolu Arokodare, despite earlier interest in the Nigerian forward, SportsBoom reports.
Interest from England and Beyond
Both English clubs have made inquiries as they aim to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.
However, growing interest from across Europe, including Germany, Italy, and Portugal, appears to have shifted the balance away from a potential Premier League move.
According to a source close to the player, Arokodare is highly likely to leave Genk this summer, with the Bundesliga his most probable destination.
"There is interest from England and Spain. It’s almost certain the striker will leave Genk this summer, with Germany his most likely destination," the source told SportsBoom.com.
German Giants Lead the Chase
Bundesliga clubs Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig are believed to be frontrunners for the 24-year-old, with several other German sides also monitoring the situation.
While reports in Italy had suggested that Arokodare had been offered to AC Milan, the source clarified that although the Serie A side have shown interest, no formal offer has been made.
Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon are also reportedly in contact with Genk over a possible deal.
Genk Open to Offers
Genk are understood to be seeking a fee in the region of £15 million for the striker, who still has two years left on his contract after joining from French club Amiens in January 2023 for €5 million.
However, the Belgian side is reportedly open to keeping Arokodare for at least one more season if their valuation is not met.
Arokodare enjoyed a prolific 2024/25 campaign, finishing as the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League with 17 goals and netting 23 in all competitions.
The Nigerian's current market value is believed to be around £14 million, and his form has turned heads across Europe's top leagues, making him one of the most sought-after forwards this summer.
