Arsenal are preparing to reward boss Mikel Arteta with a bumper new deal, whether or not he finally ends the club’s long wait for Premier League glory this season, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The Spaniard has steered the Gunners into a title race that has gone right down to the wire. Despite a dramatic wobble that saw Arsenal squander a huge 10-point advantage at the summit, the club’s hierarchy remains convinced he is still the man to lead them into a golden era.

With just two league games remaining, Arsenal still hold their destiny in their own hands and sit two points clear at the top.

But with FA Cup winners Manchester City breathing down their necks, nerves are jangling in North London.

Slip-ups against Burnley or Crystal Palace could yet open the door for Pep Guardiola’s relentless machine to snatch the title away in devastating fashion.

EVAPORATE

After seeing their once-commanding lead evaporate, there is a growing sense that absolutely anything could happen before the curtain finally comes down on the campaign.

But despite the twists and turns, Arsenal’s faith in Arteta has never wavered.

Club insiders believe the 44-year-old has transformed the culture at the Emirates and restored Arsenal to the top table of English football after years spent drifting behind their biggest rivals.

And there could yet be an even bigger prize around the corner.

Arteta is also juggling preparations for Arsenal’s blockbuster Champions League final showdown with Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the month. This game could define both his season and potentially his long-term future.

Winning one trophy would be a huge achievement. Winning two would elevate Arteta into Arsenal folklore.

CONCLUSION

Such a remarkable double would only strengthen his position when discussions over a fresh contract reach their conclusion.

Arteta himself had hoped to park negotiations until the campaign was over, preferring to keep every ounce of focus on the title run-in and European mission.

But Arsenal are pushing hard to get a deal over the line and have been in discussions with the Spaniard for some time.

The proposed extension could reportedly stretch as far as four years and underline the belief inside the club that Arteta’s biggest triumphs are still to come.

His current deal runs until 2027, but Arsenal’s powerbrokers are already looking much further ahead.

They remain convinced Arteta will eventually deliver the title success supporters have craved for years, and perhaps, if the football gods smile, he could finally give those increasingly frustrated fans something to celebrate before this season is out.
