Crystal Palace vs Brighton & Hove Albion Preview: Odds, Tips and Prediction

Date: November 09, 2025 Venue: Selhurst Park Kickoff Time: 16:00 An exciting matchup between two entertaining teams, Crystal Palace and Brighton, sometimes nicknamed the A23 derby or the M23 derby by the media, has been stepping up to the challenge when called upon, and now against each other once more to continue their rivalry. Palace have been on an upward trajectory since Oliver Glasner walked through the door, and the Austrian has already made his mark, having won two trophies in his short time with the Eagles. Fabian Hurzeler, on the other hand, has done a sterling job with the Seagulls himself after replacing Roberto De Zerbi, as they have always maintained their expansive style of play and competitive nature.

Crystal Palace Current Form – WWLLD

Oliver Glasner has been nothing short of spectacular in his time with Palace. Among landing two trophies for the Eagles, Glasner has managed to elevate their game while getting the best out of his players. The Austrian's confidence in his ability and team is admirable, which has seen them not only compete with the teams around them but also go toe-to-toe with the "Big" names in the English top-flight.

With the busy schedule and extra games, Palace has sustained the pressure while maintaining its competitive edge. In the last five games, the Eagles have recorded two victories, two defeats, and a loss. During this time, Glasner has matched up against three teams who are in the top four on the Premier League table, which saw them draw against Bournemouth, defeat Liverpool to advance to the last eight of the EFL Cup, and fall short to Arsenal away from home. As they gear up to face Brighton, players like Mateta, Pino, and Sarr will be vital in coming away with the victory.

Key Players To Watch

  • Jean-Philippe Mateta: To say Mateta has largely improved under Glasner is an understatement. The Frenchman's physicality has been difficult for defenders to contain at times, while his ability to pick up the ball on the half turn, have the skill and awareness to link up play, or take his opponents on and make direct runs to goal has been exceptional for the Eagles in attack. This has seen him score goals and assist his teammates, even to the point of earning a national call to the French squad.
  • Ismaila Sarr: Sarr provides a lot in attack for the Eagles. He often offers himself to be the target man in quick transitions, as his relentless attacking style of play down the wings allows him to take defenders on with pace and skill. His eye for goal and composure around the box make him a threat to any defender on the day, especially with his strength on the ball.
  • Marc Guehi: Guehi has been a standout performer, and it comes as no surprise to see the big clubs wanting to sign the Palace captain. The England international has everything in his game to become one of the best defenders in the Premier League. His calm under pressure can play out from the back; he has great positioning that allows him to intercept passes, and he is a great leader. He can also score goals, which adds to his all-round game.

Crystal Palace Team News

Cheick Doucoure (knee) suffered a setback in his rehab process and will be sidelined for the next couple of months. Chadi Riad (knee) is close to returning to training, the last major step in his recovery from an ACL injury. Eddie Nketiah suffered a hamstring injury during their victory against Liverpool in the EFL Cup and is likely to spend some time on the sidelines to recover.

Brighton Current Form – WLLWD

Fabian Hurzeler came in as the youngest permanent head coach in Premier League history at the age of 31 when he took over the hot seat at Brighton. Hurzeler guided St. Pauli to the Bundesliga before coming to England, where he gained recognition as a young manager who is able to relate and interact with his team on a level that gets the best out of his players. His expansive style of football has been welcomed by the Brighton faithful and has seen his team compete at a high level.

The last five games have been a roller-coaster ride for the Seagulls. From an unexpected draw against Wolves, a hard-fought victory against Newcastle, back-to-back defeats against Man United and Arsenal, to a commanding 3-0 victory over Leeds. Hurzeler will know how important this fixture will be as they have won just a single game on their travels thus far.

Key Players To Watch

  • Danny Welbeck: Welbeck has been in great form thus far and continues to raise the bar, despite him edging closer to his 35th birthday. He still finds the energy to work hard in every duel and the enthusiasm to give off strong performances, regardless of how the game pans out. His wealth of experience is invaluable to the team, which allows him to influence and guide his teammates while doing what he does best and scoring goals.
  • Yankuba Minteh: Minteh is an exciting young talent who is not afraid to challenge himself and offers a lot going forward for the Seagulls. The Gambian international has energy and pace that give defenders difficulty in keeping up, especially when he finds himself making intelligent runs in behind the defensive lines. He has the skill to go along with his speed and has an eye for a pass as well as finding the back of the net.
  • Carlos Baleba: Baleba has continued to improve his game, adding strength and balance in the heart of the midfield for Brighton. His positioning and the way he covers ground are exceptional, allowing him to quickly identify where the danger is while having the energy to contribute in attack. When the Cameroonian finds himself in a good moment, he is difficult to contain as he has a big influence that helps the team find its rhythm.

Brighton Team News

Joel Veltman has missed the last five games with a calf injury and is slowly working his way back to full fitness. Jack Hinshelwood is still recovering from an ankle injury he sustained in September and will still need a few more weeks before he makes a full return to action, while James Milner is dealing with a minor muscle injury, which could see him miss his fixture.

Brajan Gruda has made great strides in his recovery from a knee injury, and Hurzeler is optimistic that the attacking midfielder could make a return in this fixture. Kaoru Mitoma has resumed team training and is edging closer to making back into the match-day squad.

Suggested Bets

By being aware of any welcome bonus, you can look forward to a significant payout to elevate your betting journey.

  1. 1

Both Teams To Score: This fixture has produced two or more goals in three of the last five meetings, expect the same here. 3/5 (1.60) with Betway.

  2. 2

Anytime Goal Scorer (Jean-Philippe Mateta): The Frenchman is in the form of his life and has the ability to score from different positions, making him a serious threat in attack for the Eagles. 29/25 (2.16) with Stake.

  3. 3

Double Chance (Crystal Palace or Draw): The Eagles have a mid-week game against AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Conference League, which could see a sign of fatigue settle in, leaving room for Brighton to keep them at arm’s length. 19/50 (1.38) with 1Win.

Value Bets

This match provides soccer punters a chance to win big with strategic insights to boost their odds of success.

  1. Next Goal (Team 2 To Score Goal 2): Brighton will be cautious, which will allow Palace to dictate play; however, the Seagulls have proven to be deadly on the fast break and have no problem finding the back of the net. 3/2 (2.5) with 1xBet

  2. First Goal Time (31-40): Both teams will have respect for each other in the early stages of the game, but as time goes on, opportunities will present themselves. 43/10 (5.30) with N1Bet.

  3. 1st Half – Any Team Winning Margin (Crystal Palace by 1): Selhurst Park has been somewhat of a fortress for Palace, and with Brighton’s poor away form, this could see the Eagles go into half-time with a goal advantage on their side. 11/5 (3.2) with Bettilt.

Prediction: Crystal Palace to Win

Crystal Palace have been in excellent form when playing at home and have proved to be a tough opposition to break down. With Palace in mid-week action against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa Conference League, Brighton could take advantage if fatigue starts to creep in; however, the Eagles should have enough to overcome the Seagulls in their own backyard.
